Talk About Cat-ankerous! 😸 A German Shepherd, a Doberman and a Cat died. All three of them stood before God, who wanted to know what they believed in. First, the German Shepherd said, "I believe in discipline, training and loyalty to my master."   "Good," said God, "You may sit down on my right side."   "Doberman, what do you believe in?" Asked God. "I believe in love, care and protecting my master."  "Awe," Said God, "You may sit on my left side."  Then, he looked at the cat, and asked, "What do you believe in?"  The cat replied, "I believe you're sitting in my seat."  Anyone who has ever had the pleasure of being chosen as a cat's servant understands this very well. I wouldn't have it any other way, either! *Photo by Grok

A Jingled Jangled Dangled Christmas in 2025! Michael and I truly enjoy the Christmas season with all the bells and whistles, including twinkling lights, festive music, delightful food and drink. Who knew that Santa and the Mrs. would soon need our help? Believe it or not, here's the story that changed everything on Christmas Eve... While sheltering in place at the North Pole, Santa's reindeer became extremely restless. Suddenly, their life desires went beyond just playing reindeer games or guiding the sleigh on Christmas Eve.   Each reindeer left, forging a different path:🦌 Dasher - was hired on as a Shopping Cart Wrangler at the mall because he was ultra-light on his hooves. 🦌 Dancer - took a job at the local Gentledeer's Club, specializing in pole dancing, twirling and swirling, with ...

Nerdin Gardens: From Fruity -to- Fruition!  Our fruit trees now reside inside the workshop for the winter months, where they're watered regularly and sheltered from freezing temperatures and adverse weather. Mr. Green Jeans aka My Honey discovered two trees were ready to harvest! We picked these beauties from the Valencia orange and Meyer lemon tree today (in the feature photo)!!! They are so perfect and appear unreal in their natural state. The kunquat trees fruit will be ready soon. Am looking forward to eating them too. Happy Sunday all, mine just got brighter!

A Festive Wreath to Remember The Annual Sip 'n Sparkle Party was filled with laughter, an array of holiday desserts, Bad Santa Bingo, seasonal drinks and we all soaked up the perfect weather. This drink is so easy to make and the presentation will wow everyone who watches the drink transform right before their eyes! To make the wreath:• A mini-bundt pan with 12 slots works best. You can use either the flexible type or metal mold.• 1 1/2 cup of cranberries• 1/2 cup fresh mint leaves, sliced in thin ribbons• 1-16 ounce bottle of lemon-lime soda• 16 ounces of pure pomegranate juice Add everything to the molds, not quite to the rim and freeze overnight, (I do this 2 days in advance to get a hard freeze). As guests arrive, place a wreath in the bottom of a martini or wide brim wine glass. Ad...

A Blazing Silo Sunset: Compliments of NanoBanana! Praful Thakkar's zoom presentation sparked more than a few sunset or twilight photos. Every time I heard NanoBanana, I thought of Anna Banana! Anyone else? Instructions for homework this week were simpler than the one before and the results, outstanding! Instead of a listing photo, adding a brilliant sky to a Silo picture I had taken that had overcast, puffy clouds, was the choice. The prompt:Please add a brilliant sunset behind the stage and silo rather than the grey clouds.  I downloaded the manipulated photo and was extremely surprised at the results. Wow! Then I received an additional message, unprompted.NanaBanana | Explain the contents of the photo:Me: My photo is of a grain silo and stage for live bands. NanaBanana | Thank you for...

Grow Through What You Go Through  Meaningful results matter, whether it’s a bountiful harvest or a profitable quarter. That comes from being present, following through consistently, staying dedicated when tedious and applying common sense with every step. Success is built on practical knowledge, sound judgment and the quiet discipline to troubleshoot when things go wrong and continue moving forward. Whether growing a garden or a company, both need reliable systems. Be prepared to act and rely on tried and true methods. Follow through, use facts over feelings and keep it straightforward. Though challenges will present along the way, they're normal, panic is an option but not recommended. Practice consistency in everything as you grow through what you go through. Happy Sunday all!

Organic Is Always Best This year's growing season has been tremendously successful but also brought challenges. We realized that zucchini plants need full on sun to avoid mildew forming on the plants and spreading throughout the garden. No shade. We were able to use simple, household products to limit the powdery substance from killing the plants. I used baking soda, milk, diluting the mixture with water, liberally spraying all the leaves and stems for several days. It worked, until rain showers saturated the plants. Mike then clipped then tossed the affected leaves. They continued to thrive, producing a good amount of summer squash. I made Squash & Basil soup, so easy and delicious! Next year, we will reconfigure the garden to promote healthy growth among all fruits and vegetables. We ...

B-A-N-A-N-A Squash Soup: It's Bananas! This growing season, we pulled all squash, cucumber and tomato plants off the ground, suspending them from the trellis's my husband aka Mr. Green Jeans installed. His garden vision turned out to be beautiful in multiple ways. In the feature photo, the Banana Squash hang from the vines. As the banana squash began to mature, we placed them each in nylon hose, tying them off to the metal bars to prevent them breaking off and falling to the ground. Prior to harvest, I searched for a simple, hearty soup recipeto enjoy on those cooler evenings. This one is so simple, yet flavorful. We usually eat it with toasted sourdough bread, slathered with butter from the local bakery.  BANANA SQUASH SOUP by JazminaReady In: 1hr 15minsIngredients: 8Serves: 6 INGREDIE...

Nerdin Gardens: Mother Earth's Helpers of Harvest!  In a quaint back yard garden setting, Mike and Wanda passionately tended to the needs of their vibrant, plant-laden plot. The proof was in the sprinkle of soil on the front of aprons, the dirt beneath their nails with a touch of green on all fingertips. One early evening an ethereal light came to be 'tween the rows of maturing plants. Mother Earth's Sister of Harvest suddenly appeared, her hair flowing with vines and flowers, wearing a gown intertwined with blossoms and greenery. Her skin glowed softly, reflecting the warm colors of the sky. She encouraged these helpers to continue sowing the seeds of unity that turns every garden into a sanctuary. As Sister of Harvest's presence faded, her spirit lingered within, reminding Mike and Wa...

Dirty Hoes Are Welcome In Nerdin Gardens In Nerdin Gardens where plants are aliveDirty hoes dig deep and help them to thrive. Rakes screech, scratch under the bright sun,Never taking a break until the work is all done. Trowels scoop away the weeds that become bold,Turning the soil with a gritty embrace, tender and told. Pruners snip, snap the unruly, sucker vines back to neat,A trusty wheelbarrow rolls on daily, without missing a beat. It's true that dirty hoes are welcome in the backyard garden,Each tool ensures harmony, no need to beg each others pardon. ~ Wanda Kubat-Nerdin Industry tie-in:A daily commitment is required to reap the rewards of successful gardening, otherwise, find something else that sings to the soul. Dutch Baby. Oh Baby! Also known as a German Pancake. This can be made for breakfast, brunch or dinner, we have done all three. The shocked look on Mike's face at its sheer size, the first time seeing it coming out of the oven was hilarious! This is his go-to now, no more flat pancakes or waffles. This is a quick and easy recipe that takes about 30 minutes from start to finish. Only 6 ingredients make up this most delicious concoction! Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Melt 5 Tablespoons of butter in a large, cast iron skillet or cake pan in oven. I prefer the cake pan. My daughter in love, Devyn, gave me this recipe. She makes it at least once a week and her family loves it, especially little Kodah! While the butter is melting, mix everything thoroughly in a blender or mixing bowl with elect...
