This post is one of those quaint and fun restaurants that every community should have.  The Bistro on Main is just one of those restaurants.  It located in Smedley manner, which was built in 1893, it is a wonderful older home which has been retrofitted into dining areas.  Some of the windows still have the old fashioned wavy glass.  The dining area is intimate although there are spaces available to host groups.  It is a great place for a breakfast or lunch meeting for an office. It has been a few weeks since we ate there, but the food was great!  The french fries were really good too!  The only issue is parking, it is street parking, but the food is wonderful, the service was really good also.  This is another restaurant I have no problem giving a recomedation for!  Bistro on Main  12/11/2013

One thing that we in South Davis County can boast about is the quality and quantity of excellent Chinese restaurants.  Today we are highlighting the China Star Restauran.  It is another of the excellent restaurants that we enjoy.  They serve the traditional chinese cuisine, which is good as we eat there frequently.  In fact, we had lunch there yesterday.  The staff is friendly and the food is very good. I recently tried the Hunan Chicken, it was wonderful!  Really spicy without losing it's flavor to the heat of the dish.  I also really like the Lemon Chicken, Kung Pao Chicken, and whatever shrimp dish they serve.  I really enjoy their hot and sour soup, while Darcy prefers either the Won Ton or Egg Drop soup.  The prices are very reasonable and the food is excellent!  China Star, Bounti... 12/10/2013

I have really been enjoying highlighting some of the great restaurants in South Davis County.  The purpose of this isn't just to eat out, rather it is to let people know what we have to offer.  This blog is about a local favorite, Robintino's restaurant.  It serves Italian cuisine with an American flavor.  It is another one of those restaurants that I have really enjoyed for a long period of time. Today I am going to highlight one of my all time favorite restaurants.  I make no secret that I love Chinese Food!  China Platter is one the I have been eating at for twenty years.  It is very good food, it is reaonably priced and has a great atmosphere!  In fact, Darcy and I ate there last night, it was very good!  They are open for lunch or dinner and of course have take out. I love the egg rolls, and interestingly, at least to me, they serve their egg rolls with applesauce.  It is something that I have not found at any of the Chinese Restaurants since.  I also enjoy their Lemon Chicken, Kung Po Chicken, who am I kidding, I like it all.  One thing they have added in the past few years are a few items of Thai Food, so there is something different if you like Thai Food. I am not really sure if this restaurant is simply Mandarin or if is called The Mandarin, but for years it has been referred to as The Mandarin.  The Mandarin is located in Bountiful.  It is a little difficult to find in that there are no other restaurants near it.  It offers, as the name implies, Chinese cuisine.  This is a popular if somewhat upscale restaurant. I don't remember the first time I ate there, it was several years ago.  If anything, age has improved it! In the past I have written about some of the fun places to eat or things to do in Southern Utah.  I thought that I would start that up again here in Northern Utah, specifically in South Davis County.  A couple of weeks ago Darcy and I had the opportunity to eat at a local restaurant chain, A Taste of India.  I will admit, I know next to nothing about Indian cuisine.  I have heard of chicken curry, so I went with that.  Darcy went with chicken coconut korma.  I went with the medium spice, and boy was I glad that I didn't go for the really spicy one!  The food was unbelievable! This is the title of a history of the Bountiful, Utah area written by my 7th grade history teacher, Leslie Foy.  The City of Bountiful is the 2nd permanent settlement (by European settlers) in the state of Utah.  It is located approximately 5 miles north of Salt Lake City.  Bountiful is surrounded by the cities of North Salt Lake, Woods Cross, West Bountiful and Centerville.  When I was growing up it was the economic hub of South Davis County.
