Nerdin Gardens: Sage What?! Uses for Fresh SageWe grow a diverse variety of herbs in Nerdin Gardens every year. Home made meals are a reflex for me, so it's ultra-convenient to walk several steps then pick what's needed. What is sage, you ask? Sage is an herb in the mint family with longish, gray-green leaves commonly used in cooking. History of SageSince medieval times, gardeners have hung bundles of sage, also known as a 'holy herb' throughout the interior rows to ward off negativity, protect against harmful forces. This is deep-rooted in cultural folklore, where sage has long symbolized protection and purification. It smells good too. How to Bundle SageCut fresh sage leaves from the garden with scissors. Line them all up and stack. Take natural twine and wrap until securely held toge...

Apricot Skies Mesmerize Am a lucky observer when nature displays a sprectacular lightshow. Southern Utah's sunrises and sunsets captivate, with their vivid, ever-changing beauty, thanks to the state's dramatic red and white stone hardscapes. The high desert becomes bathed in warm golden to fiery spectrums, creating an almost ethereal glow. The sun's rays pierce through any cloud cover, silhouetting jutting rock faces, rugged peaks, adding contrast and depth. Utah's clear skies and dry air amplify the colors' intensity and clarity, making each dawn and dusk a unique, breathtaking spectacle that feels both timeless and magical. Apricot skies mesmerize with all eyes-on the horiz-on!~ Wanda Kubat-Nerdin 🧡💛🧡Morning all, wishing you a most wonderful day ahead.

Volunteerism: A Balancing Act  The giving of time in the community is one rewarding way to give back. As a business owner, it requires thoughtful contemplation to protect both personal fulfillment and professional success.  Avoid running to meetings. For many years, I served on multiple boards, committees and organizations. These roles brought genuine joy and a deep sense of purpose. In recent years, I considerably lightened the load.  Preserve your energy and focus. Time constraints may prevent 'a best effort' and the most responsible choice at the moment of realization is to respectfully step down. That can free an organization to find someone to fully engage.  Spend priceless time wisely. Look for opportunities that naturally build relationships, opens doors and supports professiona...

January the 6th Zoom Meeting: The Real Life of a Trailblazer! As I began to think of the impact that Leanne's presentation made on me, the phrase, "God made dirt and dirt don't hurt!" came to mind. She totally embraces the mess, getting dirty, and remembering that a little soil never truly harms you. It's part of living boldly! Leanne is a testament to that quote as she heads off the pavement into the high desert in her selling area in a 4-wheel drive vehicle equipped with a reliable GPS. A set of tires every year, proves her worth in leaving rubber in her wake! That shows a true commitment to the dirt life!  Here are 30 things that can be done with dirt, from the everyday to adventurous activities:1. Build a dream house on a dirt lot.2. Plant a garden and grow your own veggies.3. Build...

This is an A & B conversation. C your way out. In the business world, consumer expectations are usually met by true professionals and that means showing up prepared, on time, every time. Being late causes unecessary stress and can hurt the relationship. Here are my ABC's of being prompt:Absolutely always arrive on time.My dad, a career miltary man, was a stickler for punctuality and he believed that showing up 5 minutes before an appointment wasn't early but late! Worse than that, it's insulting to those who made the effort to show up on time. Military standards mean, "Early is on time, on time is late and late is unacceptable." Being tardy gets zero respect. In his opinion, it's like rolling up to an Army drill sergeant’s inspection formation, half dressed, in a wrinkled uniform, a blat...

Talk About Cat-ankerous! 😸 A German Shepherd, a Doberman and a Cat died. All three of them stood before God, who wanted to know what they believed in. First, the German Shepherd said, "I believe in discipline, training and loyalty to my master."   "Good," said God, "You may sit down on my right side."   "Doberman, what do you believe in?" Asked God. "I believe in love, care and protecting my master."  "Awe," Said God, "You may sit on my left side."  Then, he looked at the cat, and asked, "What do you believe in?"  The cat replied, "I believe you're sitting in my seat."  Anyone who has ever had the pleasure of being chosen as a cat's servant understands this very well. I wouldn't have it any other way, either! *Photo by Grok

Why Understanding Real Estate Settlement Fees Ogden Valley Matters for Buyers and SellersAnyone preparing for a real estate transaction in Eden, Huntsville, Liberty, or the surrounding Ogden Valley communities will quickly encounter the topic of real estate settlement fees Ogden Valley. As a local realtor working from Farmington and serving Weber and Davis counties, I’ve found that many buyers and sellers are surprised by how closing fees differ from the rest of Utah. Ogden Valley has its own blend of rural properties, luxury homes, resort-style developments, and recreational acreage—each of which can influence the settlement process.Because closing costs represent a meaningful portion of overall expenses, understanding what fees apply, who pays them, and how they align with Utah’s real...

2026 Goals: Renew Wins with Loyal Clients As you focus on pursuing fresh clients in the coming new year, remember to nurture the existing ones who have already placed their trust in you, sent referrals your way and given you the opportunity to prove your value. People who have done business with you are more likely to provide repeat and additional business when you stay connected. If you disappear like so many agents tend to do, you’ll end up with exactly what that effort deserves - Nothing. While seeking new opportunities, take time to remind those loyal clients why they chose you in the first place and show appreciation for the ones who continue sending new business in your direction. They are golden. Overlook them? Someone else is next in line, that becomes your loss, their gain. Sta...

A Jingled Jangled Dangled Christmas in 2025! Michael and I truly enjoy the Christmas season with all the bells and whistles, including twinkling lights, festive music, delightful food and drink. Who knew that Santa and the Mrs. would soon need our help? Believe it or not, here's the story that changed everything on Christmas Eve... While sheltering in place at the North Pole, Santa's reindeer became extremely restless. Suddenly, their life desires went beyond just playing reindeer games or guiding the sleigh on Christmas Eve.   Each reindeer left, forging a different path:🦌 Dasher - was hired on as a Shopping Cart Wrangler at the mall because he was ultra-light on his hooves. 🦌 Dancer - took a job at the local Gentledeer's Club, specializing in pole dancing, twirling and swirling, with ...

Successfully Adulting During the Holidays 🤣 Christmas is still full of joy and magic for all to enjoy. As an adult you might want to resist some childhood activities that might have been cute as a kid but now could be straight up questionable to everyone present. Resist! Remember, you are now considered a responsible grown up. And that means: ₦Ø having a meltdown. The traditional chocolate souffle slips from oven mitted hands and shatters on the floor, kids are running zoomies around the kitchen island, the baked ham went missing, so did the dog. Falling apart is not an option!₦Ø shaking the presents.Throwing guesses out to everyone present is super suspicious and can crush a child's Christmas dreams. You had your chance to peek and predict what resides inside the colorfully wrapped pack...

Hungry, Angry, Lonely, and Tired? Holidays tend to stir the emotional pot more than any other time of the year. Offset that and enjoy the places, people and things in our lives by using HALT. It's an acronym used as a self-check to prevent chaos from overtaking everything. The HALT acronym stands for Hungry, Angry, Lonely, and Tired. When feeling down, stop and ask yourself why the stress level is amplified and the blues have moved in, then Address each one like this: Hungry: Skipping meals because of deadlines and trying to balance the holidays with the workweek can lead to low blood sugar and honeryness.Do This: Avoid skipping meals if possible. Set aside nuts, granola or peanut butter bars to boost the energy if a full meal is out of the question. Angry: Family gatherings are notorio...
