Christopher Wynn/Reporter    Bio |  E-mail  |  News tips The decorations are up at Waxahachie's famed haunted restaurant, Catfish Plantation. I recently made my annual road trip south and found the fried pickles are still divine and the house is --- allegedly --- still spooked. Find out for yourself by dropping by or call to join one of their after-hours ghost hunting parties. The restaurant is also offering evening hay rides in a horse-drawn wagon this weekend and next. Not sure you believe in ghosts? Check back next Friday and I'll re-post a photo taken last year by Texas Spirit Seekers that seems to show a face in the window. While relaxing last night watching one of my favorite TV shows around 10 p.m..  The phone rang and on the other was our fabulous Police Department.  The purpose of the call was to notify me of a possible child abduction.  The child was a little boy in our town that had been reported missing.  I turned on the local news, and nothing had been reported.  A half hour later I received a call stating that the boy had been found.  Thank You Waxahachie Police Department for the hard work that you do, and your efforts to find the missing child.  I am proud to say that Waxahachie is my home town.

Helping Your Child Buy Their First Home With real estate prices bottoming out in many areas and a juicy tax credit still on the table, now may be a great time for your child or grandchild to buy a first home. But these days, mortgage lenders may demand substantial down payments and they often charge high fees and unattractive interest rates to those with less-than-stellar credit. Wouldn't it be great if you could loan your child or grandchild enough money to make the purchase? Obviously, this idea isn't for everyone. But if you can afford to lend a hand, the Feds will help, too, with a tax credit worth up to $8,000 for deals done by Nov. 30, 2009. With that deadline in mind, here's what you need to know. The Soon-to-Expire Home Buyer Credit The Stimulus Act extended the first-time home ...

St. Joseph Catholic School in Waxahachie hosts Oktoberfest. This is the school's largest fundraiser. All proceeds from Oktoberfest help the school maintain operations and academic programs. Funds raised in the past have helped provide the monetary resources needed for lockers, desks as well as computer, science and music equipment and curriculum. Oktoberfest is a great way for St. Joseph School to contribute to the community by hosting a family-style event fun for all ages. The event is run solely by volunteers - namely the students, parents and faculty of the school along with many parishioners of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Please check out our school website to learn more about St. Joseph Catholic School. If you are interested in participating in our event or making a donation to th...
