One of the joys of being a grandparent is the yearly pageants put on by the schools.  This years extravaganza was last night.  It was a musical and the fact that all the students had practiced a lot was very apparent.Perhaps the behavior of the music director outshone the kids.  She was animated and had incredible energy.  The kids clearly loved what they were doing.  She had inspired them to perform well. There was a lot of creativity displayed and some comical moments.Seeing all these children participating in an inspirational event was another of the fun spots in the Christmas Season. Being a grandparent means only going to see the performance.  No longer do we have to haul the kids to rehearsals, make costumes, create refreshments or serve them.  That was all a delight of days past....

Real estate represents a consistent and stable way to build wealth, brings liquidity to our housing market, and stimulates our local economy.  In fact, in the past year, investment and second-home properties represent approximately 27% of all residential sales.  It's also worth noting that national wide, 43% of real estate investors earned less than $75,000 per year.  Today, real estate is quite literally on sale!  There is an unprecendented opportunity to build wealth thruough real estate, and I specialize in helping al investors achieve their goals.  Contact me today to learn more about investing in real estate.

Carnival in Tomball, Texas.  It is at Highway 249 and Spring Cypress. This beautiful ferris wheel can be seen from miles away.  The light show is pretty amazing.  I took a video of it, but haven't uploaded it yet. Here is one of the kiddie rides, it is motorcycles. The genesis is a long swing that goes in a circle, and up about 20 feet in the air. The viper looked like one of the bigger rides. Here is another picture of the ferris wheel.  The colors are so nice. Here are several of the food booths.  They also had a gaming booth. Here is the tilt a whirl. This ride was to the right of the Genesis.  It looked a little more for teen agers and young adults. What carnival would be complete without bumper cars.  These kids seemed like they were having a really good time.  This carnival is loc...

Have you ever thought you wanted to move?  Well, if so you need to look at your home with a critical eye and make the necessary repairs and/or improvements that will make your home desireable to someone new!  We decided about a month ago that we wanted to downsize and set a target of November 1 to go on the market.  Then the work began. Oh my goodnes......   It's one of those times that we wish we had done all this stuff when we bought the place.  So far we've done light renovation in the baths and kitchen plus now we're doing the final painting..... Then it's onward to the exterior for a couple minor repairs and some landscaping. But the most tedious is getting rid of stuff... what to keep, what to give to charity, what to garage sale and what to give to family.  It's quite the cathart...

After many months of drought and only an occasional smattering of rain we are finally getting a good rain.  Hopefully is will be slow and soaking and bring need relief for our millions of dieing plants, shrubs and trees here in Houston.  It's so good to have some moisture outside.  This is they driest I've seen it in my 60 plus years!!

We have lived in this home four and a half years and still we occasionally find an occasional mystery.  After a brutal summer with oppressive heat and NO rain or more accurately a severe drought I went out back a couple of days ago and found this growing happily!  We have not planted anything and have not had these things since we have been here.  But what a pleasant surprise!    So, my question is..... do you pay attention to the little things in life?  Some of them will give you immense pleasure.

Old Town Tomball and Historic Downtown Tomball Many Great Places to Shop and Eat Old Town Tomball & Historic Downtown Tomball are located toward the east end  of Tomball -- between Commerce St. and Market St. (north and south); between Pine St. and Elm St. / the railroad tracks (east and west).  In case you don't know where Tomball is, it is northwest of Houston, northwest of Spring, southwest of The Woodlands, Northeast of Cypress. Old Town Tomball & Historic Downtown Tomball offer many great places to shop and eat; and it's a lot more relaxing and more low key than going to one of the malls.  If you don't want to fight the traffic and you are looking for unique gifts, give one (or several) of these wonderful stores a try.  You'll see lots of things you won't see at the mall.  There a...

Magnolia Lions Club Pays $10,608.17 Towards Food and Supplies For Wild Fire Victims.  From 10 - 11am Saturday September 17th, 2011, the Wild Fire victims could sign up to shop at the Walmart on Alice Road in Tomball, and have the Lions club pay $50 per person towards their approved food and supplies.    Here was the table to sign in.    This is one of the district governers for the Lions Club.  He had a great "Texas" tie on.   These folks were close to the cash registers.  I talked to the majority of the folks in line.  They were mostly from Remington Forest, Ranch Crest, River Park Ranch and Oak Hollow.  Some had homes that burnt to the ground, others had major smoke damage.   The line was very long, stretching out of the garden center and through the store. At the end of the line I st...

Fire Trucks and A Lovely Remembrance of 9/11 I was at Chick-fil-A the other day and spotted these great fire trucks there.  I happened to notice the beautiful eagle and flag painting on the truck with the "We remember" banner underneath.  It was very moving. Here is the side view of the whole truck.  I almost missed the banner and flag, until I looked closer. That day there was also Engine 25 at Chick-fil-A.  Their paint design is a little different from the Engine 21 truck. Side view of Engine 25.  Thanks Cypress Creek Fire Fighters, we appreciate you! 9/11 victims and their families, "We do Remember".

The Lifecycle Of A Sunset.  These pictures were taken outside the Kroger supermarket off of the the new 249 Bypass in Tomball. The items backlit are the freeway overpass and the trees they planted next to the overpass.  As I went into Kroger to get some groceries, I noticed what a beautiful sunset it was becoming. In this one the cloud edges look like liquid gold.  This was after I came out of the store from shopping.  It was amazing the difference that 20 or 30 minutes made in the look of the sunset.

On the order of the hurry up and wait department,  morning came early so we could finish the open house dishes, clean the silver and pack provisions in the car.  One of the not so pleasant findings was that our open house signs had vanished....  we seldom do open houses so they are not a part of our regular inventory.   Creative modifications were made to existing arrow signs and house for sale signs.   When we arrived in the subdivision for the extravaganza scheduled, we put out signs to help people find the target house.  We then unloaded the car, turned on the lights and the oven for heating the garlic bread,  and the peach cobbler.  The burners on the stove were also activated to heat the shrimp creole and the pot of rice.  At this point we put all the plates and accessories out.  W...

When it is time to sell, the best thing you can do is think like a buyer.  Get a pad of paper and make notes.  Go through your house room by room and look at it critically.  Ask yourself if the room looks spacious, fresh, bright.  If not make notes about what you can do to make it appear at its best.  Attention to details such as cleaning windows, removing dust bunnies and spider webs and painting where there has been heavy traffic will make a dramatic difference. Next, go back room by room and see what you can live without for a while.  After all, you are planning to move.  Why not start packing?  Boxes can be stored in your garage, an unused bedroom or a weather proof  shed.  This will signal the buyer that you are serious about this sale.  Nic-nacks and bric a brac need to be scrupul...

So how often have you seen a squirrel smile?   He or she looks really happy!  I do not know what creates a happy atmosphere for a squirrel, but I think it may have to do with lots of good food.    This cutie was just sort of hanging out.  Maybe he was asking for Ralph to  take a picture of the moment? It will be good to remember this tree by.    It is dying and we are going to have to cut it down to keep it from falling on the house.  I hope we can save most of it for the wildlife to enjoy.  It has provided nesting places for two woodpecker families in the past three years.                                                                            This one was taken before the flower bed got so thick.  As a music lover, I thought you might enjoy seeing this potentially musical squirrel...
