Reprinted from RISMEDIA, April 14, 2010- The busy spring home buying and selling season is underway and the experts at Pulte Homes are offering staging tips to get your home ready for sale. A quicker home sale can be reached by keeping in mind the needs of the home's most likely buyer and creating a fresh inspiring look just for them, according to Pulte Homes expert Janice Jones, national vice president of merchandising. "Everyone understands the value of de-cluttering, cleaning and refreshing a home in today's competitive market," Jones said. "The difference between a ‘For Sale' and a ‘Sold' sign often boils down to effectively staging a home to appeal to young singles, families or empty nesters-the three largest customer segments that are likely to buy your home. Home sellers should h...

Wednesday I went for a full body mole check at Spring Dermatology.  Dr. Carr and the staff were so nice and efficient.  For the more information call (832) 717-3376. And they had some great artwork in their office.  This metal piece below had shiny reflective pieces that looked like copper or bronze. This is the painting that you first see when you walk into the office.  Very modern. I liked this collection of 4 mirrors which serve as artwork and decoration at the same time.  This piece of art is across from the reception desk.  It is metallic. It was funny that the same day I had my mole check I happened to catch the very end of "Scrubs" and the doctor was doing a Public Service Announcement and was saying to get an annual full body mole check.  Have you had a mole check lately?  It co...

This year, SpringFest will be happening in Old Town Spring, TX, on Saturday and Sunday, March 6th and 7th.  One of the largest wine tasting events in the Houston area, SpringFest not only offers fantastic wines from all over Texas, but also offers live music and art to enjoy.  Old Town Spring's very own Wimberley Valley Wines will be just one of the wineries displaying their wares.  This is a great way to taste local wines before you purchase them and be exposed to all that Texas wineries have to offer.  Sixteen different Texas wineries have already signed up for the event. If you wish to volunteer to pour and serve wine at various wine stations throughout SpringFest, please contact Wimberley Valley Wines' manager Jana Valentine at 281-350-8801 or email her at wvwtr@yahoo.com. We have had a rough winter here in Spring TX.  The picture above says it all.  This story is repeated at home after home in our area.  It is so sad to see all these dead palm trees.  We are now starting to see trucks filled with dead trees.  Look below and you will see this same home in a winter picture just a few years ago. You can see that the palm trees were smaller but very green.  We have heard so much about global warming in the last number of years and now that it is no longer warming we are hearing climate change.  I decided to go back in history and found that in 1940 it actually got down to 5 degrees here in Spring TX.  This is my personal opinion but I think it is just cyclical changes.  So what do you think?   Subcribe in a reader Copyright © 2010 Marchel Peterson, All Righ...

Typically Valentines Day in Spring TX is the day to prune your crepe myrtles.  Not so this year.  We are looking at having temperatures below freezing the next three days.  We have lived here 14 years and I have NEVER seen a winter like this one.  Where's the Global warming? This is not what we signed up for.  I'm ready for Spring (lol).     One of the many things that I LOVE about living in Spring TX is the accessibility to all that Houston has to offer. If you are looking for something to do when YUCKY weather arrives visiting our many museums may be the answer.  Recently when our daughter was in town we re-visited the Houston Museum of Natural Science. We had tickets to see Bugs in 3 D at the IMAX but went early so we could also tour the museum. We have visited a lot of Natural History museume across the country and have loved them all.  Houston's museum is not just Natural History but also Natural Science.  You won't want to miss the Weiss Energy Exhibit and there's also a wonderful collection of gems.  It is only appropriate that Houston's Science Museum would have a HUGE focus on energy.  I don't have pictures fr...

This is the second time that I have written a post about litter in Spring TX and I still don't get it .  We had a heavy rain overnight and as I was driving down Hufsmith-Kuykendahl this morning the ditches were full of water.  These are big ditches so when I mean full I mean full.  I was almost overwhelmed looking at the trash that was floating in the ditches. I just DON'T GET IT.  I love our country and I'm proud to live here.  I can't imagine throwing trash out the window.  Precinct 4 here in Spring TX maintaine our roads using prisoners to clean the roads.  I see them once or twice a month picking up trash but it is NEVER ending process!!  I don't know what the answer is.  I know there are suppose to be fines for littering but I don't think it is something that is enforced.  Maybe a ...
