It was recently announced and reported that Round Rock city is supporting the efforts of some local developers to build a $30 MM project all green. I don't mean GREEN as in the color! I mean Green as in Environmentally Friendly.Austin has been a worldwide leader in it's Green Programs and it was only a matter of time before the neighboring suburbs would catch the bug as well!As reported in the Austin Business Journal, the development already has it's first client, the Williamson County Board of REALTORS.As stated in the article, the office project will be comprised of seven individual buildings ranging from 10,500 square feet to 30,000 square feet each and is planned to hold a mixture of medical and professional office space. As I had previously written about the North Round Rock Growth...

One might wonder if nature and a subdivision could go hand in hand? I say yes as I took this picture of the longhorn next to "The Ranch at Brushy Creek" Subdivision in Round Rock Texas. There was actually a small herd of about 12-15 longhorns. "The Ranch at Brushy Creek" is a fairly new development that is surrounded by a heavily wooded ranch and a creek. In 1851 the 1st settlement in the area was along the banks of Brushy Creek. thus the settlement was named Brushy creek. Along the banks of the settlement was a distinct Round Rock, In 1854 the settlement was renamed Round Rock. David Weekly Homes starting in the $260,000 and Sq. Our last school was opened about six years ago. So when you think about it , we've grown about 6,000 students and haven't built schools. So we needed to get this bond election passed. The community supported it and so that's what we're doing," superintendent Jesus Chavez said. The new middle school will pr...

Originally, Round Rock was not named Round Rock nor was it located where it is currently. Coincidence and fate combined to determine the location of Round Rock.  The initial settlement of Brushy (as the town was originally called) was located near the banks of Brushy Creek at the natural fording area by the round rock.  one of the fastest growing communities in the nation. In 1970 there were only 2,700 residents in this town, today there are more than 89,000 individuals calling Round Rock home.

For months, IKEA enthusiasts have been watching the construction at the intersection of IH35 and FM 1435 in Round Rock.  First, the Outlet Mall opened, to rave reviews.  But we had to wait for the real treat.  Now, as a Texan, I really have no problem driving 150 miles one way to Houston from Austin for an afternoon of lunch and shopping at IKEA and Penzeys.  But it does take a whole day there and back and can only rarely be done on the spur of the moment.  And the catalogue just isn't the same . . . really, it isn't.  But last week, finally, to great fanfare and LOTS of traffic, with the roads leading to it still under construction, IKEA finally opened.  I passed on the first day, but my husband and I couldn't resist going a couple of days later for dinner (Swedish meatballs with lingo...

In a recent report the Austin/ Round Rock Area has been considered a safe place to live! Austin was reported as the safest city in Texas and Round Rock, (The home to DELL, Inc.) meanwhile, was ranked the 13th safest city in the nation.   Round Rock City Manager Jim Nuse said in a news release that the national recognition the survey generates will continue to help Round Rock's economic development efforts. "The exposure we receive in the national media has tremendous value to us as we recruit new businesses to come to Round Rock," he said. "More importantly, the study reinforces what our citizens tell us: They feel safe."  On a personal note, I live in Round Rock and Love it!It's minutes from Downtown Austin or the Lakes or the Triple A Baseball Stadium or Lots of Shopping or Light Ente...

In a previous article pertaining to the growth potential and future of a subdivision in Round Rock called Teravista, I stateds as one of the factors of continued growth was the medical facilities that are being built near and around this subdivision. Another NEW development will soon be underway.According to the Austin Business Journal, representatives of the La Frontera development in Round Rock say Austin Regional Clinic will move its Round Rock operations to a new 27,000-square-foot building there. San Antonio-based Koontz McCombs will construct the building, which will eventually house about 80 doctors and employees. Austin Regional Clinic's Round Rock office has been providing health care for more than 20 years. It offers same-day appointments and daytime urge...

I often have prospects ask me my opinion about one neighborhood vs another. More & more I'm being asked, "What do you think about Teravista vs "Any Other"." Which would be a better investment if I were to move there?Whenever the question has been brought to me for the past few years, I've said, "Teravista". My reasons were simple. The housing prices were just like everywhere else in the area and actually slightly cheaper even though it has what once was rated the #1 public golf course in the area. Many of the reasons I used to tell people that they should buy in Teravista is because I saw future appreciation because of developments planned for the surrounding area. Most of those developments are either now completed or under way! In the spring most of the home builders noticed the same t...
