Scott & White opened its 72-bed University Medical Campus Hospital in Round Rock.  This is the system's first hospital outside its home base of Bell County. The Temple-based health system broke ground on the 68-acre campus nearly two years ago. The campus is now home to more than 30 physicians representing more than 24 specialties."We have been eagerly anticipating this day," said Ernie Bovio, CEO of UMCH.    Its Elementary School Number. 30 for Round Rock ISD!Today, Aug. 14. was ground breaking day at the new school, located in the Teravista subdivision at 4419 Teravista Club Drive.  The school is scheduled to open in 2008 with approximately 650 students."We must continue to build for the future of our city, the future of the state and for our children," said Dr. Jesus Chavez, RRISD superintendent.This is the third school to be built using money from the $267 million-dollar bond package approved by voters in 2006. According to the Austin area MLS, the average price in the Round Rock area increased by $16,273 for June 2007 from the same period last year.  For Pflugerville, prices increased by $17,748.  For both areas taken together, there were 69 fewer homes sold for June.  June was slower overall for Austin's market, primarily because of the near-constant rains over the past 60 days.  Large projects in Austin are behind by 45 days or more.  Hopefully, the selling season will extend longer than average this year, since many potential buyers delayed purchasing while waiting for the weather to abate.  Austin Texas Real Estate Round Rock Real Estate Pflugerville Real Estate 08/12/2007

If you like Tex-Mex food, the best place in the state of Texas is Rio Grande on North Mays in Round Rock, Tx  Want fajitas - ole' they have chicken and beef that is so tender, you can cut it with a fork.  The Guacamole is to die for.   My favorite is Las Blancas, one cheese and one chicken enchiladas w/a white sour cream, cheesy sauce.  Oh baby.  Give it a try everything is fantastic and the margaritas won't disappoint you either.   08/08/2007

Next Monday, August 6, the new 72-bed Scott & White University Medical Campus Hospital will open.  The hospital is affliated with Texas A&M University and their 3rd and 4th year medical students will be able to do clinical work there.  The new hospital has hired 200 employees and will focus on hear & vascular care, orthopedics and women's services.  As I have said before - more employment will bring more buyers!!! 08/01/2007

Movies in the Park are back for 2007 in Old Settlers Park at the Virg Rabb Pavilion 3300 E Palm Valley Blvd, Round Rock, TX 78664.  Every Friday night come out to Round Rock's Old Settlers Park for a movie presented by Time Warner Cable. All movies will be presented at the Virg Rabb Pavilion. The evening festivities will begin 8 pm with movie trivia hosted by Time Warner Cable. Once it gets dark enough, the movie will begin. You need to  arrive before dark to get a spot and to be ready for the show. Bring a blanket, lawn chair, and the family for this free night of fun. The city of Round Rock in Williamson County is just 18.5 miles north of Austin Texas. It boasts a population of about 89,000 people. There were only 2,700 residents in 1970  showing the tremendous growth the city has experienced. Most of it having been since 1990. It's major employers are Dell Computer Corporation, Cypress Semiconductor, and Farmers insurance. It has two major shopping areas within it's city limits. Dell just announced it's earnings and as a part of that, stated that they were cutting 10% of the worldwide workforce.  As Dell employs about 18,000 folks in the area we could see 1800 lost jobs!  Let's cross our fingers and hope that the reduction in force doesn't hit us that hard, but it could.  1800 more homes on the market in Round Rock would certiainly change the landscape of the real estate market there.  Here is the quote from the release:"As a part of this overall effort, Dell will reduce headcount by approximately 10 percent over the next 12 months.
