 Texas Jumping Beans has become the birthday party destination of choice for our kids (we had my son's party there yesterday afternoon).  We have had four parties there so far, and it's still tons of fun for all of us.  There are about eight to ten very large inflatable "jumpers" (hence the name).  They change them out pretty regularly.  Yesterday, during our visit, there was a jumper shaped like a pirate ship, and another like a long train with an obstacle course inside.  They also have a large inflatable slide, which is where the kids tend to congregate most often.  With the new addition of about 30-40 rubber balls that are about the size of dodgeballs but very lightweight, it made it even more fun this time around.I like the fact that weekday afternoon parties are priced very reasona... 12/12/2007

Sprawling is the new adjective for Round Rock Texas. This once sleepy little town (pre Dell Computers) has come a long way and is headed for bigger better things.  I moved to Round Rock in 1988, after a brief stint in Georgetown and a longer time in Austin, Tx.  The whole town shined as a great place to raise children, meet people and get involved in local things. So, even though I'm not a native Texan, I have come to learn a few things about Texans since I've been here.  First if all...the truth that everyone know, which is that everything is Bigger in TExas!  Bigger hats, bigger Football, Bigger Plates, Bigger Land!, and of course Bigger houses for your money!Another thing about Texas is that Texans love to make everything uniquely theirs ( I would say ours, but I'm still earning my stripes ;)) for instance we have Texas Burgers, Texas Steaks, Texas Chili (I'll talk more about that later) and even Tex-mex food :) Have you ever seen anyone else wear a T-shirt that proclaims pride about belonging to their state??  You don't see many people with "Proud to be a an Illinoisan" plastered across their chests on shirts or even on skin.      There are many mixed opinions about whither we should or should not celebrate Halloween. Some people see it as an evil celebration with ties to occult activities. Others see a harmless community annual ritual. There are some who have very strong opinions about why we should not acknowledge this as a celebration time on the calendar. As a minister for over 25 years, I had both camps in my church. Naturally the church membership looked to me as their Pastor to settle the issue for them Biblically.   Years ago I sat in a huge convention center and listened to Zig Ziglier speak. He said something that morning that really stuck with me. He said: "If you want to reach your dreams help someone else reach theirs". In real time logic this seems like an insane statement. How is helping someone else accomplish their life long dream going to help you accomplish your dream?  The Round Rock portion of Toll 130 runs through the city's extraterritorial jurisdiction only, which means it is not within city limits and cannot be zoned and it does not have any infrastructure yet.  That is the major reason no development projects are underway."Our utilities are not out there yet," said Joe Vining, vice president of economic development in Round Rock. "Once that happens, then we'll see some development."According to Impact News -City planning director Jim Stendebach said he expects the one-mile segment of toll road within the city's ETJ to be within city limits in less than a year.
