There are a couple of restaurants in the La Frontera shopping area in Round Rock that I felt compelled to write about, for drastically different reasons.  One of them has consistently provided superior service, and the other one....well, let's just say that we haven't returned in a long time after a truly bad experience there.Schlotzsky's Deli specializes in sandwiches, and my kids also really enjoy their individual pizzas.  This has become a mainstay for us after church, since it is a bit less crowded than some of the other "sit down" restaurants on Sunday.  During the week, I enjoy meeting with my agents there sometimes, or with clients or friends.  They offer free wifi, which is a nice bonus. Although I am not close friends with the managers there, they do know me now, and two of the...

Forest Creek is a lovely master-planned golf course community located in east Round Rock, just minutes from Dell Computer.  Having played the course a number of times with my friends, I can attest to both its beauty and its difficulty.  Granted, I am not really a stellar golfer, but it is among the more challenging courses in this part of town.  Currently listed resale homes in Forest Creek range from about $200,000 all the way up to the mid-$500's.Currently, there are 44 new and resale homes available on the MLS in Forest Creek, with an average asking price of $335,105.  The average square footage for these homes is 3,311, for an average price per square foot of $100.10.Presently, there are 5 homes under contract in the subdivision, with an average listing price of $267,097, and an av...

My first piece of real estate was a single wide trailer. It was about a 15 by 65 two bedroom one bath and a stackable washer and dryer unit in the bathroom. It was new in 1972, I bought it in 1984. It was in an aging Mobile home park but it was clean and safe. We bought it for 4500 dollars. We went to work on it and put new carpet in it updated what we could, put a new air conditioning unit on it. Re-coated the roof and did a little landscaping. Brought our first child into this home. We sold it for $6000 dollars a couple of years later.  How about you? Do you buy what you are selling? I am surprised at how many Realtors there are that do not own a single piece of real estate. Oh yes, I have heard the reasoning: when I get some money saved up I plan to buy a home, when I get my credit ...

Yesterday, while my mom was still in town, we decided to go do a bit of shopping with the whole family.  We were headed to Lakeline Mall, and we originally considered going to that area to eat.  On the way there, I decided that would be ill-advised, considering it was the day after Christmas and it was exactly "lunchtime" (i.e. around noon).  Instead, we opted to go to Zorba, which is a Greek restaurant located near Dell in Round Rock, just in front of the Wal-Mart.    Although the food was superb, the communication skills of the employees who were placed in charge of taking our order were VERY poor.  It was laborious trying to explain what we wanted to eat, and it took several tries to finally get everything squared away at the counter.  Additionally, the menu was not helpful, as I pi...

Christmas Day in Round Rock was lovely! I have grown up in the West, born in West Texas, raised in Arizona and now in Central Texas. For me Christmas should be mild, little or no snow, cool enough to  put a log on the fireplace but not so cold that you cannot go outside in sweats and play football or basketball and the sun should be shinning and most of my Christmas have been just that way.  Christmas morning we awoke early and prepared a traditional breakfast which includes Chocolate Gravy and biscuit's, sausage, eggs, waffles and sparkling apple juice. Yummy!!! The Late lunch supper menu included:Prime Rib Lawry's style with the cream corn, mashed potatoes, salad, mushrooms cooked in butter what a feast. So good! Today the diet begins. So far only coffee and a couple of pieces of dry...

We had a Great Christmas! It started for me on Christmas Eve, I was one of the Three Wisemen in our Christmas play. I know, I know what you are thinking. but I always get type cast this time of year. What can I say, I am a natural. The costume was made by a production company with a smaller model, which has inspired me to start my diet today so I can get closer to that models size not because I plan to wear the costume but I would like to give my skeleton a break for the new year. We had two services on Christmas Even on at 4pm and the other at 6pm. My daughter is a culinary graduate with friends and that means that when I got home there were stuffed Port chops, fresh salad with home made dressing, and many other things I cannot pronounce or spell but I sure could eat. For dessert, Bos...
