Don't miss Lost Maples- The leaves are turning 11/18/09 Report: The front that went by on Monday took a lot of Maple leaves off the trees. After they turn any wind or rain is hard on the trees. We did get some near freezing temperatures the last two nights that will complete the turn on the twenty percent of the Maples that haven't turned yet. This will also get the Red Oaks turning and the lacy Oaks should start looking better as well. The East Trl still has the best color and the one mile drive into the Park still looks good. The West Trail is just starting to show some color as the Red Oaks are starting to turn and a few Lacy Oaks looked to be starting. The west Trail should look very good about the first and/or second week of December. The high temperatures are predicted to be in th...

How do you know ~~~ without a Home Inspection? When a property is sold in "AS IS" condition , how do you know without a Home Inspection what you are really getting.      It is up to you the Buyer to take action to satisfy yourself that the property is worth the money. it may be well worth your while to consider a Home Inspection. You could possibly end up spending more then you had anticipated. The Question: What is the true condition of the home? It may be worth  to spend a couple hundred dollars (depending on the size of the home) to "know what your getting and if there may be some costly defects or repairs.     One     Example:                                                                                     The Attic The atti...

My friend Luke hanging out with "Das Schnitzel" at Wurstfest 2009. No, I didn't fly to Germany this weekend. I've spent a lot of time in Germany in the course of my life.  I was there before the Wall came down and have spent months at a time roaming from town to town while I was still a musician.  I actually had designs on being a German teacher at one point in my life.  I still speak and understand some of the language - enough to get me where I need to go. I have a certain love for all things German.  I guess it just rubbed off on me during my time over there.  Some cities are so familiar to me I can point you in the right direction of my favorite restaurants, hotels, and venues.  My love for all things German especially extends to two things: beer and sausage (or Wurst as they are c...

This morning we woke up to lightening, thunder and tons of rain!  South Texas needs this rain desperately.  My son and I jumped in the car so I could run to the office to pick up the last bit of a project that I am working on (yes, a REALTORS job is never done). This is what we ran into!  p.s. No we didn't cross like some stupid guy that risked the Fire Departments' Crew and truck at another crossing that we passed! Standing so close to something so powerful was interesting.  You could hear the rush of the water flowing over the road and into the "DRY" creek.  Watch out for mother nature!

2009 Comal County Fair in New Braunfels Texas Today we are headed out to the Comal County Fair Parade in New Braunfels Texas.  We attend this event every year, but this year is particularly special because my son who plays trombone in the Mountain Valley Middle School Mighty Hawk Band and this is his first parade to march in.  Jordan made Honors Band this year which is the highest level band one can make in middle school.  So we will gather along San Antonio Street in New Braunfels this morning for the annual Comal County Fair Parade. The Comal County Fair is held every September and is usually a hot experience in terms of weather, but this year our community was blessed with cooler temperatures for fair week.  After a long scorching summer of drought, we enter fair time with milder tem...

It's spreading like a cancer...in New Braunfels & throughout the county-by Ceil Winters It's spreading like a cancer...in New Braunfels & throughout the county-by Ceil Winters  Robbery in New Braunfels at a local bakery and they did't even take donuts. What we've seen happen in the past year across this country deserves all of our attention. Have you noticed every time you turn on the radio or television the first thing you hear and see is another robbery? Your home, a convenience store, a bank, someone walking out from shopping at the mall. And now in our little town of New Braunfels Texas someone robbed the local bakery. In talking with some of our neighbors they think it is the economy.  Some think it is a combination of the economy and drugs. Is this the way it is going to be from ...

9-12-2009  I've been watching some television today as I was curious to see the Tea Party and March to Washington D.C.  9-13-09 I didn't post yesterday's blog so I'm adding to it with this paragraph. This past year has been difficult for all of us. We have seen unemployment rise, and as I type this continue to rise at an alarming rate, home values go down and the stock market in disarray. Americans voicing their opinion over the deficit and costly healthcare proposals. Congress arguing amongst themselves. This is just an example of some of the things we see and hear on a daily basis. If I were a drinking person it would drive me to drink.                                                                What are we going to do?     These are my personal thoughts as I watched some of the T...

Is this the right time for another program?                                                                              Where have I been? I keep seeing this on the web but haven't paid much attention until today when I clicked on several advertisement.OK encouraging folks to return to school; that is good. But......why should we the tax payer pay for this? They say the country is almost bankrupt. In my opinion I don't think this is the time to start another program.                                           President Obama will give you $2,500 a year to go to schoolThe Obama administration's stimulus bill is designed to get the economy moving again. However, you may not know that most of the bill's $70 billion for education will go to low- to middle-income individuals....
