Speechless Sunday...Bathtime! I do wildlife and nature photography as a side business to my real estate.  It really started as a passion that my late father got me into as a kid and has grown into a business.  I have done three exhibits and have sold some of my work...so I suppose that makes me a professional in some sense. Well, my almost thirteen year old son has picked up on my passion and is always snatching my camera and shooting something and today I found this photo that he snapped while we were visiting nearby Landa Park in New Braunfels, Texas for a picnic recently.  I thought he did an amazing job of capturing this bathing duck in the stream and chose it to be my Speechless Sunday feature! Randolph Air Force Base (Randolph AFB) is a base of the United States Air Force located in Universal City, Texas, near San Antonio. Dedicated June 20, 1930, as a flying training base, and it continues with that mission today. The base is named after Captain William Millican Randolph, a native of Austin who was on the base naming committee at the time of his death in a crash. It serves as headquarters of the Air Education and Training Command (AETC) as well as the Air Force Personnel Center (AFPC) and is known as "the Showplace of the Air Force" because of the Spanish Colonial Revival Style architecture in which all structures including hangars were constructed. The symbol of the base is a large water tower atop Building 100, housing the 12th Flying Training Wing (12 FTW) headquarters, k...

When I opened the panel today look what I found. Something had a "secret hiding place".                                                                             I would think they could find a better place to store the acorns. Reminds me of the time when I opened the panel to find a sneaky snake.                                                   ************************************** Carl Winters, Advanced Home Inspector, License #3630 - Have a property inspection, whether it is a new home, existing home or a home under construction.  Fortunately in this case the wiring was in tact.   Yes, home ownership is still possible. America is where dreams can come true. Call a realtor today and start the process. It is important to hire a licensed home inspector.   One of the things you WILL want to do is have a home inspection by a licensed home inspector. In Texas all home inspectors must acquire a license by TREC. In order to do so, each inspector must meet certain obligations set by : TREC (Texas Real Estate Commission).   If you are selling your home, hiring an inspector before you put your home on the market can be a smart move if you want to prevent or at least prepare for any issues that might come up during the buyer's inspection.  Uncovering problems ahead of time can save you time and money: Know what you are buying. 1. A smoother process. The more problems you c...

Some of you may remember awhile back we had you vote which countertop you liked for our kitchen that we would be remodeling. If you forgot Ceil decided on Canalle Granite. This is a project she pretty much did herself with my help. The granite was ordered and Ceil went to work removing 50 year yellow formica; then the counter tops, sink, stove, evrything as you will see in the photo's. Well the new countertops have been installed; backsplash will come after the first of the year. We wanted to show you the finished product. We had some very nice folks at Home Depot from New Braunfels that worked with us and the best three installers ever from Stonemark with James the lead installer. Ceil is tickled but pretty worn out and has bruises and bumps to show for it. So here goes. Item 1 Canalle...

Don't miss Lost Maples- The leaves are turning 11/18/09 Report: The front that went by on Monday took a lot of Maple leaves off the trees. After they turn any wind or rain is hard on the trees. We did get some near freezing temperatures the last two nights that will complete the turn on the twenty percent of the Maples that haven't turned yet. This will also get the Red Oaks turning and the lacy Oaks should start looking better as well. The East Trl still has the best color and the one mile drive into the Park still looks good. The West Trail is just starting to show some color as the Red Oaks are starting to turn and a few Lacy Oaks looked to be starting. The west Trail should look very good about the first and/or second week of December. The high temperatures are predicted to be in th...

How do you know ~~~ without a Home Inspection? When a property is sold in "AS IS" condition , how do you know without a Home Inspection what you are really getting.      It is up to you the Buyer to take action to satisfy yourself that the property is worth the money. it may be well worth your while to consider a Home Inspection. You could possibly end up spending more then you had anticipated. The Question: What is the true condition of the home? It may be worth  to spend a couple hundred dollars (depending on the size of the home) to "know what your getting and if there may be some costly defects or repairs.     One     Example:                                                                                     The Attic The atti...
