Guption Football Stadium in Leander, TX was the place grandson Tyler Dillard "#44" played in the Leander Pop Warner League for the "Knights" Saturday afternoon!  This was a family affair...big brother Jeffrey sat on the steps with his dad and PawPaw. Tyler's mom Linda was on the field helping count players!  Doesn't she look great in red? It's a great Saturday afternoon to be playing football...and Tyler was enjoying doing what he loves to do best and everyone was there to support him. Go Knights! The Leander Independant School District has long been known as a great place for children to learn and grow, but what many people don't realize is that there are homes in many price ranges and styles available in this area, as is indicated when looking at August's remaining bank-owned property listings (also known as REOs or foreclosures) coming to the market within the Leander ISD boundaries. In this group of five single family properties, you can find: homes from under $100K to around $450K, homes in masterplanned communities like Steiner Ranch and Canyon Creek, updated homes and fixer-uppers, homes in both rural and suburban settings, and homes with views and three car garages. If you are looking for a home in the Leander ISD area, I can help you find the right property for your need...

Even though it's nearly December, it's never too early to think about summer time fun. Volente Beach Water Park is just a hop, skip and splash away from Austin, in Cedar Park. It's located on FM 2769 right on the beach of beautiful Lake Travis. The park has water rides and slides for every person in the family, young or old. From rides like the `Texas Twister' that take you on a plunge that twists and turns, or how about `The Sidewinder' that takes you and a friend down a slope and up the other side, all why you are twisting and turning sideways! How about trying to get across `Gators Crossing' without falling in! You have to make it from one side of the pool to the other by balancing on lily pads; just a little secret; you get to hang onto a rope from above to keep from falling into th...

For the second time in two years, the Leander School District is home to a new stadium.   John Gupton Stadium is set to open August 27th, and will serve as a central stadium for Leander's five high schools. The stadium is named after John Gupton who worked for the school district for over 21 years. The new stadium will include many features that the A.C. Bible Stadium has, which was renovated just last year. Similarities between the stadiums include both accommodating 10,200 people, similar sound systems, and the same type of turf.John Gupton Stadium will stand out as being different from the others by having surveillance cameras near bus parking and other isolated parking areas, and no ramps to climb to get into the stands. The funding of the $22.5 million stadium is part of the 2007 b...

A Hollywood film crew was in Leander recently to shoot scenes for the independent film “Dadgum, Texas.” Leander will be the backdrop for the romantic comedy that is set to open next year. The Texas Film Commission has stepped up to the plate to make Leander an enticing place for film makers with its Film Friendly Texas program. The Film Friendly Texas program was started to help smaller communities who do not have a staff that can deal with film requests and can become certified film-friendly. This program has really helped put Leander’s name on the map. Besides all of the great publicity Leander will receive by have a film made it town, it will also have a positive and instant economic impact. Filming was completed on May 28. The city of Leander hosts a car rally every month. Leander is about 20-30 minutes from central Austin, so its a pretty reasonable drive. It feels like a short drive if your in a classic car or convertible! The event is called Cars and Coffee and is held the last Sunday of every month from 11:00-2:00pm. John Eagle European car dealer is the main host, but the cars are parked for a block or two around the dealers site in "Old Town". The dealer is located at 200 W. Willis in Old Town. Some of the surrounding streets are blocked off to allow visitors to walk around leisurely to see the cars easily. I participated last Sunday and had a lovely time. The weather was perfect, what we call Chamber of Commerce weather. I drove my classic 1975 TR-6 convertible and managed to even get a sunburn! He...

These pictures were taken this morning on the inaugural run of The Red Line in from Leander Texas to the Austin Convention Center on 3/22/2010.  As you can see,  the train cars were manufactured in Switzerland.  They are nice and comfortable.  Service was not crowded but there was an abundance of media present.

These pictures were taken this morning!  The media was out in full force and even Spike from Round Rock Express was there to entertain us as we road the rail for the first time.  This picture was taken as people started boarding.  I was sitting on the upper deck where there are nice comfortable tables and wireless internet access.  The wireless was slow.  The TV stations could not broadcast using the wireless.  There were several riders who used the hooks for their bicycles.

Our Favorite Starbucks turned one year old today.  We were present at the grand opening a year ago and we were present today.  See the cute balloons in the picture.  They aren't giving away anything but their outstanding service and their smiles.  The address is 1805 S Highway U.S. 183 in Leander, Texas.   Stop by and tell them Carol sent you!!!  It's a great place to hang out and the atmosphere is fabulous.
