The House today and the Senate yesterday passed legislation to extend the $8,000 home buyer tax credit to May 1, 2010, for first-time buyers and add a $6,500 tax credit for repeat buyers if they've lived in their home for five of the past eight years. Home prices are capped at $800,000. The legislation in both houses was included in a bill to extend unemployment benefits and is expected to be signed by President Obama shortly. "REALTORS® appreciate the swift action by Congress to extend the home buyer tax credit and expand it to some current homeowners," says NAR President Charles McMillan. "As the leading advocate of housing and real estate issues, we urge President Obama to sign this legislation into law quickly to keep the momentum going in the fragile recovery of the nation's housin...

The fall weather has Wiley and I out exploring the great parks that Georgetown Texas offers.  One of the most visible is Blue Hole park within a couple of blocks of downtown.  The park lies along the north San Gabriel River  and has been a popular swimming hole for generations. There is a wooded picnic area on the south side and dramatic bluffs on the north. There is a beautiful waterfall over and around the low dam that forms the swimming hole. The hiking trail connects under the Austin Ave bridge to San Gabriel Park.  There are picnic tables and a nice wooded area above the river on the south side. The main swimming area is upstream from the low damn and is about 6 ft deep.  The water is clear and clean.  Perfect for swimmingThere are some good fishing spots upriver and you can catch ...

It's a perfect fall day here in Central Texas.  Crisp cool air, sunny, nothing better  that putting the top down on the convertible and taking a drive.  What better place on Halloween than to go visit the departed neigbors in  the historic Oakwood Cemetery in Austin Texas.  The Oakwood Cemetery association was giving tours of the famous and infamous residents.  Here are a few pictures we took. Our companions, it's Austin, home of the Weird! Some of the residents had busted out The Angel will protect us Celtic Cross with beautiful carving The sun hit the cross and the carved inscription glowed.."I am the Resurrection..." This cozy crypt creeped us out.   A fun day, but as the sun was setting we headed home to welcome the trick or treaters.  Happy Halloween!

I'm often asked "What brought you to Georgetown?".  There are so many good reasons to relocate here, a great school disctrict, low taxes, mild climate, beautiful parks, proximity to Austin Tx but what always comes to  my mind is the historic downtown square.  Just picture one of Norman Rockwell's paintings of a simpler time and you have an idea of our guality of life here in Georgetown Texas.  Let's take a walking tour and you'll see what I mean. Discover Georgetown Mural  Georgetown is located 30 miles due north of Austin Texas and is the county seat of Williamson County. The Williamson County Courthouse was restored in 2007 and occupies the center of downtown. Fountainwood Estates is located approximately 6.5 miles west of Interstate 35 in Georgetown Texas.78628.  It lies just east of Jim Hogg Park rd and south of Williams drive close to Lake Georgetown.  The subdivision was developed from 1992-2000 with most of the homes built by local builders Bobby Fredrickson, Jimmy Jacobs and Don Parker.  The lots are all a minimum of 1 acre, and are served by Chisolm Trail water district and Pedernales Electric Co Op.  All homes are on septic systems.  The lots are mostly treed with a blend of live oaks, cedar elm and juniper (referred to as cedar trees locally). The homes are predominately one story ranch style with 3/4 masonry exteriors (brick or local white limestone) ranging from 1800 to 2800 sq ft with the average being 2300 sq ft.  Most have 2 car...

Yes, here in Central Texas we are all happy with the rain, whether it comes naturally from the sky or through the Active Rain network.  This week alone the level at Lake Georgetown has risen 16 feet.  Watering restrictions have been lifted in most of the communities that draw water from the lake.  So what is a Realtor to do on a rainy Monday?  Well, I've spent my day reading and learning from the resources available to us all the Active Rain network.  Soon I even hope to be able to rework my blog and use some of the custom features.  Meanwhile here's a picture of our beautiful Lake Georgetown filling up as I write.

Remember the song Janice Joplin sang 'Mercedes Benz'?  This weekend in Georgetown Texas I was singing a version of that "O Lord, won't you buy me a CORVETTE?" kept coming into my brain as I walked the historic square and checked out all the beautiful Corvettes that participated in the Corvette Weekend. And then there was my favorite.. the one that got me singing. If only I could hop inside pop the clutch, burn those skinny tires and transport myself back to Leo's Drive In circa 1965.   'Oh Lord won't ya buy me a STINGRAY!"
