Tonight my husband and I made a special trip out to take a picture of the prettiest tree in Friendswood, all decked out in holiday lights. My husband drove up in front of the home, and I jumped out of the car with my camera in hand to capture the beauty of this gorgeous tree and its twinkling Christmas lights.   I turned on my camera, only to find the battery was dead! Good grief! Fourteen neighborhoods in Friendswood have had ten or more home sales this year, with Heritage Park topping the list at 113 sales so far. Heritage Park, located between Bay Area Boulevard and El Dorado Boulevard is in the Clear Creek school district, and has homes built between 1979 and 2005. The average sales price of homes sold in Heritage Park this year has been $141,600.   On the Friendswood school district side of Friendswood, West Ranch has had the most sales so far this year, at 41 homes sold. Some of the best Mexican food can be found right here in the Friendswood area, but we don’t call it Mexican food. We call it TEX-MEX!   One of my favorite Tex-Mex restaurants is Rancho Mexican Restaurant, located in the 24-Hour Fitness shopping center at 146 W. Parkwood Ave in Friendswood.   Rancho Mexican Restaurant is not fancy or expensive; it’s just plain good! There are so many menu items, you had better plan some extra time just to make your selection. I usually try something different every time I eat there. A few weeks ago, I wrote a post about showing a house to a dog. Well, today we closed on that house, and guess who bought it – the buyers with the dog!   Some people thought it was pretty crazy to allow the potential buyers to bring their dog over to try out the stairs and the space, but I was willing to accommodate them, knowing they were on the brink of making an offer. Many people choose to move to Friendswood because of the excellent schools. The City of Friendswood is served by two school districts, Friendswood ISD and Clear Creek ISD. Calling all motorcycle riders and enthusiasts! The Metro Blue Santa Motorcycle Ride and Show will be held this Saturday, November 12, 2011 at Stevenson Park in Friendswood from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.   The Blue Santa rides benefit disadvantaged children during the Christmas season. The Metro Blue Santa organization will be providing gifts for hospitalized children this year. One of the nice things about living in the Friendswood, Pearland and Clear Lake areas is that the Kemah Boardwalk is just 30 minutes away! The Boardwalk is a great place to take out-of-town friends for a fun night out on the waterfront. We went there this week with some friends from the Dallas/Ft. Worth area.   The Boardwalk runs along the Clear Lake entrance to the Houston Ship Channel. You can take a nice walk along the waterfront or stop to watch the sailboats and motor boats coming in and out of the channel.   There are lots of nice restaurants along the Boardwalk. At the last Alvin-Manvel Chamber meeting it was announced that a PetsMart will be constructing a 1,100 square-foot building in the Highland Shopping Center on FM 1462. For those of you who don't know where Highland Shopping Center is, that is where Krogers is currently located in Alvin. This new commercial business will create new jobs for the Alvin area.   Recently there have been many new commercial construction projects in Alvin. This is exciting because commercial entities normaly don't just construct anywhere. Today I was piddling around in “downtown” Friendswood and I found a new store I had never been in before. Actually, it’s been there a year, but I just never noticed it. So I decided to go in for a look, and I’m glad I did!   The store is called Little Creations, and they sell personalized clothing, bags, gift items, and much more!   The owner, Julie Everts, had lived in Friendswood for many years, but moved away for a short time. Now she’s back, and she has opened her cute shop at 158 S.
