There is going to be a lot of toe-tappin’ and heel stompin’ going on in Friendswood in February! Adult clogging lessons are being offered at the Friendswood Leavesley Park Facility on Thursdays, beginning Feb. 9 and ending April 26.   And, the best part is that you can try it out for FREE! You can check out the clog dancing lessons at two free, no-obligation fun nights on Jan. 26 and Feb. 2. Both fun nights, and the lessons, will be held on Thursdays from 7:15 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.   My husband and I love to dance, but our specialty is the Texas Two-Step. There are a lot of things to do around the Friendswood and Pearland areas that appeal to men. One of the biggest draws for the area is that there are eight Harley Davidson full-service dealerships in the Houston area! The one that is closest to Friendswood and Pearland is San Jacinto Harley Davidson in Pasadena.   San Jacinto Harley is located at 3636 E. Sam Houston Parkway South between Fairmont and Spencer Highway in Pasadena.  It is just a 15-minute drive from Friendswood.   There is always something fun going on at San Jacinto Harley.  On weekends, you might find them sponsoring benefit rides, concerts and rallies at the store. They also sponsor the local HOG (Harley Owners Group) chapter.   San Jacinto Harley carries new and pre-owned motorcycles, genuine Harley Davidson parts and ...

The Forest of Friendswood is a lovely Friendswood neighborhood that has a little something for everyone. If you are looking to buy a home in The Forest, you can get one in the $200,000’s, all the way up to over a million. Homes in The Forest were built between 1998 and 2005.   One of the reasons The Forest remains such a popular neighborhood is because of the convenient location just off of FM 2351 and Melody Lane. Residents of The Forest have very easy access to I-45, and FM 518. The Forest is also just down the street from Westwood-Bales Elementary in Friendswood’s Exemplary-rated school district.   This past year was a pretty good year for resales in The Forest with 30 homes selling in 2011. Sales prices ranged from $200,000 to $1,300,000. The average sales price was $415,676, and th...

I often get calls from people who want their children to attend Friendswood ISD schools because of the district’s exemplary rating, but they don’t think they can afford the homes in Friendswood.  However, one of the best kept secrets in Friendswood is that there are some townhome/condo complexes that are VERY affordable, especially for first time buyers!   Friendswood doesn’t have a lot of multi-family properties, but there are a few small complexes that were built in the 70’s and 80’s. There is one complex, Ashford Village, with townhomes constructed between 2000 and 2003.   There were 15 townhomes/condos sold in Friendswood ISD this year. Of those, eight were sold for under $100,000.  They didn’t stay on the market for long – average number of days on the market was only 96 days. Most...

New Medical Clinic Breaks Ground in Downtown Friendswood, Texas   Friendswood Family Chiropractic Clinic and Spuhler Medical Associates began construction on their new 10,250 square foot building at 1111 S. Santa Claus will be making his annual tour of Friendswood neighborhoods this Saturday, Dec. 17. The Friendswood Volunteer Fire Department will be giving him a ride all around town on one of their big red fire trucks!   There is no set schedule for Santa to visit each neighborhood, so you will just have to listen for the siren as the fire truck makes it way down each street. He always seems to show up in Wilderness Trails in the mid-afternoon, but only Santa knows what his schedule will be this year.   Santa and a few of his helpers will be on board, waving to children and throwing candy to kids and adults who come out to greet him. I have heard that he also has a stash of doggie bones to throw out for canine friends as well!   It’s always fun when you hear the siren in your neighborhood...

Last week I noticed that Friendswood City Hall was decked out with a Christmas wreath and Christmas lights. I wanted to stop and take a picture, so I pulled in there yesterday and snapped a photo. Because it was taken during the day, the pretty Christmas lights weren’t noticeable. Hopefully I’ll get by at night sometime to get another shot of our pretty city hall building!   Merry Christmas from Friendswood, Texas!

I found this charming whimsical Christmas tree on the Alvin Christmas Tour of Homes last weekend. It was cute as can be, and I found it tucked into a corner of the sweetest little girl’s room. I loved the ornaments she put on her special tree, especially the snowman with a carrot nose!   Merry Christmas!

Santa Claus is coming to town, so you better be good for goodness sake! At the Alvin Christmas Tour of Homes today, I saw so many wonderful Christmas trees! Every home had at least one tree in every room, and they were all so pretty. Most were decorated with a theme, and I found one tree decorated with snowmen. I took this picture of a cute sign on the snowman tree. I wish I had one of those signs for my own tree!     Merry Christmas!

People just don't send out Christmas Cards anymore. You will get one from anyone who is marketing anything though. I am determined to send out Christmas Cards AGAIN this year myself! I get such a thrill when I get a card or letter in the mail. I really do enjoy digging through all the junk mail and advertisements and finding a nice colored envelope addressed to me. It may be a short note or an invite to some function but it thrills me all the same. The sad thing is that the elderly R-E-A-L-L-Y miss it. So I plan to send as many as I can to them too! It makes my heart hurt to know that the world they once knew changes more and more each year. I see the sadness in my mother-in-laws eyes as more of her friends pass away each year. Almost all of her friends are now deceased; less people for...

There are Christmas trees everywhere you go – at the grocery store, at the mall, at the office, at the car wash, all over the place! I ran across a really pretty tree in Friendswood yesterday, so I took this picture of one of the ornaments. The entire tree was decorated in red and gold, with white lights. I thought you would enjoy it - very pretty!   Merry Christmas!

The Southeast Christian Women’s Club meets quarterly at Golfcrest Country Club in Pearland. Today, when I walked in for the meeting, I was blown away by the awesome Christmas decorations the country club had put up. The stairs that go down to the dining room were decked out with luscious garland, and right in the middle of the stairs, on the middle landing, was the most beautiful Christmas tree ever!  The tree was framed by garland and lights wrapped around the stairway banisters, with clusters of red poinsettias for a big splash of color. The view from the top of the stairs was fabulous!     Merry Christmas, Y’all!

It took Joel Olsteen to solidify what I am grateful for. Everyone on AR was writing about what they were grateful for during the Thanks Giving Holiday. I wanted to write about the many things I was grateful for too. I just didn't know how to write them down without sounding cheesy. I was watching Joel Olsteen this morning and his sermon was on being grateful. It was then he verbalized just about everything I was grateful for. I think most of us are grateful for the same things we just don't realize it. No matter what our daily hardships are; we must be grateful for what we currently have. There will always be someone who would be grateful for what we have that they don't. So I am going to the the Greg Nino thing and just list them. I am grateful for..... That I woke up this morning To b...

On the way home tonight, I had my camera with me (and the battery was charged), so I stopped on Sunset Boulevard to take a picture of the big beautiful tree in front of one of the big estate homes. This large tree covers most of the front yard of this home, and the homeowners have it wrapped in brilliant twinkling lights for Christmas.     The tree’s branches are long and low to the ground. There was a crew working on the lights for that tree all last week. It took them several days to wrap all of the lights around the trunk and branches of this fabulous oak tree.   I’m so glad the owners of this home light up their tree for Friendswood residents every year. It is truly beautiful; and because the home is located on one of the main roads running through the heart of Friendswood, lots of ...
