I recently attended a seminar in Northern Virginia.  During the late 80's and early 90's, I lived in Alexandria, Virginia and Columbia, Maryland for about six years total.  During that time, I was an on-site New Home Salesperson with three DC Area home builders.  The first of those builders I worked for was Scarborough Homes, who shortly after I joined them, changed their name to Winchester Homes.  I was with them for perhaps two years. The first neighborhood that Winchester assigned me to was Crofton Commons.  It was a new Townhouse Community just off I-66... about five miles down Rt 29, just before you cross over a little bridge and enter Manassas.I started this "adventure" in April of 1987.  There were three models that were offered for sale in that community.  Just to share with you ...

Hello everyone,The starstatehomes team attended Fort Worths "Movie/Stars under the stars" event. While I was a bit disappointed on the overall attendance, I thought the idea was terriffic. It was a perfect night with just a slight breeze, there where portable restrooms avalible, plenty of parking and some tasty treats provided by local restraunts. I must admit I did partake in a chocolate frozen banana......... Um good.

It's Fireplace Time Tonight... !It has been a long summer.  Hot days, warm nights, pouring rain for days at a time, lakes at first several feet below normal, then lakes ten feet above flood stage.  Many, many people I know... are so ready for fall.I don't think I used my fireplace even once last winter.  Not that it wasn't cold enough.  The timing just wasn't right... or I just wasn't in a fireplace-kind-of mood.  Either way... no fires in the fireplace.                              For some reason... this winter... even this fall... this beautiful Autumn... is already upon us.  Somehow I can sense it.  Last night I could even smell it in the air.  Something's different.  Something's changed.  I think tonight just might be... a Fireplace Night.  Maybe some hot tea, maybe some hot chocol...

With the Financial and Mortgage Industries "tightening up" their loan requirements... an extra boost is often needed for buyers to be able to qualify for the home they want to purchase.  Here are a few suggestions on how to help someone who wants to buy a home... but really needs some help in doing so.One of the most frustrating things a seller can experience... is finding a buyer who is both READY to buy their home, is also WILLING to buy their home, but for a variety of reasons... is UNABLE to purchase.  The ability to assist that buyer in a variety of ways... can often be the difference between a home selling... or staying on the market... and just "sitting there."  Here are just two of those ways:Many buyers have both the income, and the credit to qualify for their mortgage loan... ...

Many Nights... Late at Night... I can usually be found at my "Blogging Desk."  I have received many, many requests (one actually... LOL) for a photo of myself while creating the "missives" I send out into the blogosphere in the middle of the night.  So, in response to all of those "pleadings" (actually, it's up to two now... my cat Mollie just emailed me)... here it is ! I have an artist working on creating a Fifteen Month calendar suitable for mounting in such places as offices, libraries, schools, churches, auto body shops and NTB Tire Stores.  Once completed, I will have my marketing agent, Phyllis Diller's older, more attractive sister Hazel, start shopping the publishing houses in New York City... to find a suitable vehicle for mass distribution.  Stay tuned for further information...

Mr and Ms Home Seller have decided to sell their home. They have a fairly good idea of what they think their home is worth. After doing their own homework online with some of the automated pricing web sites, The Sellers, being very sensible sellers, schedule appointments with three local Listing Agents who've been hanging stuff on their front doorknob for years. Each Agent comes prepared with a "Competitive Market Analysis" (called a CMA). It is on fancy paper, and two of the three even have "professionally done" flip charts as part of their presentations. Each of the three Listing Agents recommends a specific sales price.Amazingly, a couple of the Listing Agents have come up with prices that are lower than the Sellers expected. Although they back up their recommendations with recent sa...

With Alan Greenspan being in the news so much recently... I have heard several of my Realtor friends say that they wish he would just keep quiet !  They say he is talking too much, and now that he is no longer Chairman of the Federal Reserve, that he needs to let Mr. Bernanke do the talking.  Personally, I think Greenspan needs to talk more... not less.  Please allow me to explain.I personally think it is foolish for anyone to disregard what Alan Greenspan has to say.  I watched his entire interview tonight... one hour long... with Maria Bartiromo on CNBC.  I was expecting it to be a great interview, so I even Tivo'd it.Alan Greenspan is a brilliant man, and his knowledge seems boundless.  I do, however, think that one thing Greenspan could do... is to say that when he is predicting dro...

Kaleidoscope of Homes is in its last week.  My wife and I attended opening week and we were blown away by the craftsmanship of the homes.  There are 5 homes to look at ranging from 1.5 to 2.6 million.  If you're going to go, now is the time because this is the last weekend.  The home I liked best was La Madera by Martin Custom Homes.  This Tudor style home is captivating with exterior and interior design features that are outstanding.  If you do go to KOH, be sure to give yourself plenty of time to view each home.  The attention to detail is amazing and we found ourselves short on time.  However, don't miss out on the fact that you're in Fort Worth when you visit La Cantera.  And if you're in the market for high end luxury, visit Montserrat just across Loop 820.  They are equally specta...

Often when I sell a New Home... when the buyers and I get around to doing their "pre-closing walk-thru" with the Builder, my buyers sometimes ask me whether or not they should first get their home inspected by a Professional Home Inspector.Of course, that should always be the buyer's choice to make.  And I would always encourage buyers to do what they felt they needed to do to insure in their mind that they were getting a quality-built home.Sometimes, though, the buyers are extremely tight on cash.  The $350 or so that the typical home inspector may charge can be a real hardship on them.  So, what should they do ?Well, as usual, the answer is "it depends."  Sometimes the buyers DO get the home inspected by an outside inspector before they do their "walk thru" with the builder.  I have f...

The Alliance Corridor in Fort Worth, TX is a fantastic place to live, work and play.  The Hillwood Company has done a fantastic job of accomplishing and implementing its vision of building first class commercial, industrial, and retail space.  Now, Hillwood is continuing to expand its vision with the town square concept at Heritage Trace Parkway and I-35W in North Fort Worth.  With Cabelas in place and Sam Moon soon to come, the Alliance Corridor is fast becoming a shopper's paradise.  Perhaps the best thing about this area are the home prices and the cost of living.  Although energy prices have risen in past years in Texas, Fort Worth continues to provide great opportunites for home buyers and business owners alike.

Hello Friends,I wanted to let you know about this group of comedians. They are called the "Four Day Weekend". I have been twice and when friends come into town I love to take them to see these guys. The comedy style is pretty PG and hilarious. It is a cross between "who's line is it anyway" and "stand-up". The atmosphere is relaxed being that it is in one of Fort Worths old Stage theaters with theater seating. No small cramped tables with so much smoke you have to bring a fan to see the act. There is a open bar and lounge before you enter the theater. One of the two times I have been there, there was a new act/singer in the lounge. As you see this is a bit more upscale and for more of the mature audience, there are some young patrons there as well.I make this a must see when you visit t...

Major Exhibit and IMAX Film about Star Wars is in Fort Worth, TexasIf you are an R2-D2 or C-3PO fan you may want to go check out the Star Wars universe at the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History.  It runs through September 3rd.  They have a lot of artifacts from the films, video interviews of the engineers, filmakers, etc. and also a section called "Getting Around" where you can see how vehicles move without touching the ground.  Then they have robots, real-world robots and you can experience the sensation of levitiation by riding on a personal hovercraft......that sounds fun! You can get more information at www.fortworthmuseum.org call 817-255-9540.  For Theatre Tickets in advance at the Omni call 817-255-9540.

I just found out an interesting thing.  While the town of South Lake is a wonderful place to live there are some who moved there ten years ago and are ready to get out due to the rapid growth. If you are one of these people let me know.  I have lots of contacts in places like Argyle, Bartonville, Flower Mound (the western side), Roanoke, Trophy Club, and Justin.  As a matter of fact I know a nice house in a new neighborhood in Argyle that the owner is selling it himself.  It is a wonderful place.  Call me and I'll make arrangements.  The owner is a friend of mine.If you are ready to move to a Downtown Fort Worth condo I can help you.How about the "up-and-coming" Fort Worth South area?  There are some really neat things happening in that historic neighborhood.I have probably the most rel...
