San Antonio Missions Historical Landmarks! A Great Place to Visit, Convenient to Fort Sam Houston! As a military wife, mom and sigh REALTOR, I have learned to stretch a budget. The San Antonio Missions are a nearby destination you can spend a day exploring at virtually no out of pocket expense!! Hope you enjoy! With Monday (yesterday) being Columbus Day, and a day my hubby, the girls and I could all spend together, we took a day trip to visit the San Antonio Missions. In the eleven years we have lived in San Antonio, I am ashamed to admit, we have never visited all the San Antonio Missions. Sure we have visited the Alamo and Mission San Jose but that was all. So since it was the day set aside to celebrate Columbus discovering America, as a family (less one crabby 13 year old that just w...

Fort Sam Houston  known around here as "Fort Sam" has always been a landmark in the San Antonio area.  The U.S. Army has been present in the Alamo City since 1845.  In 1876, the Army moved to the present location gradually increasing its size to the 3,000 acres today. It has always been one of the Army's most important commands.  For a number of years in the early 1900s it was the largest Army post in all the continental United States. Many distinguished American soldiers have served here, including no less than 13 Army Chiefs of Staff and two United States presidents.  Military aviation was born here in 1910 and many of the procedures and tactics developed here have led to the United States Success on the battlefield. It was at the end of the Second World War that the Army made the bas...

Descriptions of Agency: The Buyer Agency Agreement There are agents, and then there are agents. Yes, it sounds confusing. That's because the term "agent" is often used in a casual manner, referring to any real estate practitioner. But agent also refers to someone with whom you've established a formal agency relationship-someone who represents your best interests in a real estate transaction and owes you fiduciary responsibilities. Agency relationships are usually established in writing with buyer agency agreements, and require: loyalty obedience disclosure confidentiality reasonable care and diligence accounting The birth of buyer agency For many years, real estate was practiced in such a manner that agency relationships were only extended to sellers. Any real estate agent who brought a ...

I had the pleasure of playing one of the two revamped courses on the Army installation of Fort Sam Houston, here in sunny San Antonio:   The course was in great shape!  I found this to be a pleasant surprise, considering the water shortage here.  The course has the distinction of being the only military course to host a PGA tournament event twice (the Texas Open).  Arnold Palmer won here on one of those events.   The bunkers are well place and come in to place on numerous occasions and water is in place on several of the holes.  The greens rolled alot better than they looked and were fast!  With the right pin placement, you really have to take your time with even a 10 foot put.   The price is reasonable; and comes with a cart and lunch, don't know if this is year round, however with the...

Fort Sam Houston is named for the first president of the Republic of Texas and leader of the Texan Army in the fight for independence from Mexico. The historic post serves as headquarters for the U.S. Army Medical Command and the Fifth U.S. Army.  Some little known and well known facts: Fort Sam Houston was first established in 1845. The Army brought camels here to haul cargo in pre-civil war days. Apache chief Geronimo was held prisoner here after his surrender in Arizona. Deer have been kept in the Quadrangle for more than 100 years. Legend says that since Geronimo refused to eat Army food, wild animals were brought in for his benefit. In 1898 the fort served as a rendezvous for Col. Leonard Wood and Lt. Col. Theodore Roosevelt's "Rough Riders," before their departure for Cuba during ...
