Hello Readers, I just wanted to take this time to thank all the Veterans that help to make America the best country in the world! Happy Veterans Day! This day is to celebrate all the men and women that have served in our armed forces. Veterans Day became a US holiday at the end of WWI, and used to be called Armistice Day. It is a day, "dedicated to the cause of world peace and to be hereafter celebrated and known as ‘Armistice Day.'" A day to commemorate the veterans of WWI. After WWII, Armistice Day was changed to Veterans Day to acknowledge all the men and women who served in all wars. In 2001 the week of November 11-November 17 was declared National Veterans Awareness Week.   Veterans Day honors all men and women who served in the armed forces; Memorial Day honors men and women who d...

House votes to extend homebuyer tax credit into spring, expand it beyond first-time buyers By Stephen Ohlemacher, Associated Press Writer   WASHINGTON (AP) - Buying a home is about to get cheaper for a whole new crop of homebuyers - $6,500 cheaper. First-time homebuyers have been getting tax credits of up to $8,000 since January as part of the economic stimulus package enacted earlier this year. But with the program scheduled to expire at the end of November, the House voted 403-12 Thursday to extend and expand the tax credit to include many buyers who already own homes. The Senate approved the measure Wednesday, and the White House said President Barack Obama would sign it Friday.Buyers who have owned their current homes at least five years would be eligible for tax credits of up to $6...

The much anticipated Housing tax credit was passed by the Senate last night by a unanimous vote of 98-0. The tax credit was passed as an amendment to the extension of unemployment benefits. The bill still needs to pass through the House and the President but both have already expressed their support and it is considered to be a formality at this point.   The bill extends the tax credit through April 30th to be under contract and allows an additional 60 days to close the transaction. Income limitations were revised to $125,000/year adjusted gross income for individuals and $225,000 for couples filing jointly. The tax credit remains at $8,000 for first time home buyers, meaning you haven't owned a "primary" residence for three years. The tax credit was expanded to include a $6,500 credit ...

Dripping Springs Tx. held the first of a series of town hall meetings last night. The meetings are to get citizen input for the development of a strategic comprehensive growth plan. Growth for our little town is inevitable although some jokingly suggested we put up a gate on highway 290 once the HEB grocery opens. I think it's important that we as a community plan for the future and help to guide the growth of Dripping Springs in an intelligent manner. Some of the main focus points of the meeting were to maintain our highly acclaimed Dripping Springs school district, develop a true downtown area along Mercer street and manage the growth along the Hwy 290 corridor. I think we are at a pivotol point in the development process for our town and would encourage everyone to get involved. The ...

Hello Readers, Sure it's fall and the weather is changing...so is your real estate market! Does your house have the right curb appeal for the season? No matter what the season, curb appeal plays a huge part in getting homes sold. Exterior staging often gets overlooked, especially when there is usually so much to do on the inside. Fall is a great time to complete certain activities, especially here in Texas. Perhaps a small tree can be planted to hide a negative or unsightly view, or conversely, planted to frame or accentuate a great view. Also, fall is the time to be planting bulbs for spring flowering. Hopefully your home sells before then, but its not uncommon to plan ahead for a new listing that you will reveal in the spring. Also, fall may be the time to put a garden to bed, or othe...
