I don't think I've told you the interesting story of Hyman Goldman. Before he became Hyman Goldman, he was a sheva boy living in Russia. I don't know as I ever heard what his Russian name was.Sheva is the Hebrew word that means seven. "Sitting sheva" is a Jewish custom whereby the family and friends take turns thanking God for the life of the recently departed, and they do it continually for seven days. So sometimes young men from the nearby Hebrew school are hired to sit sheva for a family when, for some reason, the family and friends can't fit the whole regimen into their schedules. Other than go to school to study his religion, that's what Hyman did. When he was 20, Hyman fell in love with Annie, they married and they fled Russia in a hay wagon for Poland. Soon they were immigrated to ...

Seller Flat fee Dallas Real Estate Contact our office further info.  visit our website Lynn911.com Dallas Flat fee MLS (sometimes referred to as "flat rate mls" or "fixed fee mls") refers to the practice in the Dallas real estate industry of placing pertinent information about a property for sale into the database of the local Multiple Listing Service (Dallas MLS) for a set fee or dollar amount as opposed to a commission based on the sales price of the property. In this instance, the Listing contract between the Dallas real estate broker and the property owner typically requires the broker to enter the property into the Dallas MLS and calls for the seller to pay the broker a flat fee for the service. The net effect is to make the real estate industry's standard MLS available as a market...

Why is everyone so Sue-Happy?  When did our society turn into a society where you can sue someone just because you're unhappy with something?  I think it started with the hot coffee spilling in the lap and the massive reward outcome that came with it.  Since then, it's lawsuit after lawsuit. This blog is inspired by all the Q&A questions with people asking if they can sue the Seller for this and can they sue the Seller for that and can they also sue the Inspector for this and that.We all know that with home ownership, comes responsibility... at least every home owner should understand that.  With home ownership, comes maintenance.  When something goes wrong, you fix it.  You don't search for someone to blame so you can sue them because something went wrong under your ownership.Take a car...

How do you show houses?  How do your clients look at houses? Here's what I do...On the first time out, I allow the buyers to kinda do whatever they want to help them feel comfortable in someone elses house. Many are shy about turning on lights and opening up doors and cabinets, so I have to do that for them.  Before we walk into the very first house, I say, "This is not my house, I do not own this house.  You will not offend me if you do not like this house.  As soon as you know you don't like it, we need to turn around and leave so we don't bog down your brain with too much information about houses you don't like."Great, Donna!  Thanks so much for letting us know we have your permission to walk out of a house!Does this happen? Very rare, on a first time out.  It always seems that buyers...

Despite having a TX auctioneers license (in addition to my real estate license), I had never been to a real estate auction until tonight.  I had been down to the court house several times for the county foreclosure auction, but this was an honest to goodness "real" auction company conducting this event, not a trustee from a law firm.Real estate auctions are more common in other parts of the country.  Every edition of the National Auctioneers Association monthly news magazine, going back a couple years, has articles on real estate auctions, the fastest growing segment of the auction business.  With the fallout in the lending community and the increase in foreclosures, I think we're going to see more and more real estate auctions around here in the coming months. The typical scenario until...

Is Dallas poised for greatness in the commercial real estate market?  I say YES!  The Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex is still one of the best places to live and work.  Unemployment is low, housing is still very affordable compared to other major metropolitan areas and researchers say that the Dallas-Forth Worth population will almost double by 2020.  As long as things stay close to status quo, the leasing and investment markets will continue to strengthen and opportunities will continue to arise.  Much of the commercial and residential real estate growth has been in the suburbs, but there are several who are bringing their focus to the urban center.  Redevelopment is being seen and talked about with an interest level that equally rivals suburban interest.  It's a great time to be involved ...

There Was a Victory Celebration at Gamboa Cay By Bill CherryDallas Broker-Realtor972 380-7347In the late ‘60s and part of the ‘70s, hidden behind a tall, 490-foot fence of bamboo and wooden planks on the shore of the bayou was a mysterious and frequently whispered about hideaway called Gamboa Cay. When Doris Hutchinson got it, it was just a bayou-front home. But with her partner, Brad Duncan, who claimed to be a protege of architect Frank Lloyd Wright, it was turned into an eccentric Caribbean-style six bedroom hotel. The entrance was guarded by huge iron double gates that once adorned a famous prohibition dinner club. On every one of the 36 fence posts was a flaming torch.Inside there were a multitude of stained glass windows, and an old sa...
