This evening, the Dallas Architectural Forum presents a moderated panel discussion about Dallas transit in three speed categories: "Fast, Medium, Slow." Panelists will discuss the impact of three transportation systems.  FAST - BULLET TRAIN Recently, Federal rail officials approved a high speed rail corridor between Dallas and Houston. The Dallas Observer published an interesting article about one of the proposed routes within the corridor. The article is worth the read! There are still a few hurdles to overcome before the bullet train becomes a reality.  MEDIUM - DART LIGHT RAIL SYSTEM The DART light rail system connecting Dallas suburbs with the City of Dallas has spawned billions of dollars of private mixed use business development. Tonight is an opportunity to learn more about upcom...

Celebrating Independence Day with the Dallas Winds was spectacular!   The Grand Lobby of the Mortin H. Meyerson Symphony Center became a Fourth of July picnic with hot dogs, ice cream and beverages.  Patrons had an opportunity to visit with friends prior to Fanfare.  Fifteen minutes prior to curtain,  people gathered to hear "The Forging of Mjölnir," led by Nicholas Williams,  Conductor of the Greater Dallas Youth Orchestra (GDYO) and guest Conductor of the Dallas Wind Symphony.  Nicholas Williams' Bio is impressive to say the least. We were fortunate to stand to his right, as he worked his magic.Kim Campbell, founder and Executive Director of the Dallas Wind Symphony, was dressed for the holiday, with his red, white and blue tie, boutonniere and socks!  Jeffrey Gershman, Director of Wi...

Memorial Day is about remembering and honoring the courageous and heroic Americans that sacrificed their lives to preserve and protect our country's freedoms. I am grateful to every brave patriot who chose to put themselves in harms way to perpetuate freedom in America and around the world.  Our job is to remember the sacrifices these brave men and women made and to carry their legacy and our freedom forward. What better way to celebrate our country's heroes than to listen to patriotic music played by the Dallas Symphony Orchestra.  Two outdoor concerts have been moved to the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center:  the Klyde Warren Park Concert and the Flag Pole Hill Concert. Both concerts are FREE.
