Hurricane Ike has served to remind me how little control people really have.  Last night, I was able to witness a stunningly beautiful sunset.   (This picture was taken last night at the Flying Ace Ranch, which is on Rock Prarie Road East, in College Station, Texas. )       This morning, I awoke to the sound of pelting rain and hurricane force winds.    The Houston area, East Texas, and so many others are dealing with flooding, downed trees, power outages, and potential tornadoes.  It is humbling to realize that although we have figured out how to travel in space, we can not stop the weather.  We can try to minimize damage, but we can not prevent the damage. I don't know what it costs yet, but You have the opportunity to buy 10.88 acres of the mostly hotly debated land in College Station.  10.88 acres of the property of the land at Rock Prairie Road and Highway 6. This is part of the land that Weingarten Realty assembled for a Super-Walmart.  This is the property that "REALLY" pulled together the East Side Residents.  This is the land that cost three city councilmen their seats, more or less.  It could be argued that this is the property that largely caused the development community and the builders to become labeled as "evil developers." The fact that Weingarten is selling off parts of the tract probably could be interpretted as a "win" for the East side residents.  (Emotions run so high when this tract of land comes up, that I want to add... 07/19/2008
