Admittedly, I am an avid boater and even I lived in the area for several years before discovering Lake Bryan.  It is a real gem in our community!  Yes, It's big enough to Ski.  Lake Bryan is actually separated into 2 parts, both big enough for several boats to pull skiers at the same time.  The highly technical terms for the different parts of the lake are the Main Area" and "The Other Side of the bridge"... Directions are fairly obvious once you get on the water.    In addition to water and camping, the lake area also has critically acclaimed mountain bike trails.  Check this link out: http://www.austinbike.com/mtb/lakebryan/index.asp The lake also has newly remodeled restaurant called The Hook...Here's their writeup: The Hook Lakeside Bar and Grille is the Brazos Valley's premier fun ...

Martin's BBQ,   in Bryan,  ......... Texas a Texas Tradition since 1925!    Now A Historical landmark. I don't know what is the oldest BBQ business in Texas ,  but I do know one of the oldest, best tasting,  and most charming BBQ restaurants has definitely definitely got to be Martin's in Bryan , Texas.  It represents a  totally different era . When you enter the restaurant  you know you are crossing a time and space configuration.  I can't tell you when the first time I went to Martin's but I believe it was in the 1960's when we took a turkey in to be cooked for a holiday meal. My Dad grew up in Bryan and told me in the 1930's my Grandfather would kill a chicken on Sunday mornings and take it to Martin's to be cooked and then picked up after church was over. I believe he said the cost ...

In our geograpical area of Texas, Cotton has been King since the mid 1800's.  The Brazos River valley soils are so rich and suited for cotton, that many say they closely compare to those in the Nile River Valley in Egypt, home of course to the famous Egyptian cotton.   Typically this time of year the farmers here have planted  thousands of acres in cotton......... well up until now.  If you take a ride through what usually is cotton fields you will soon discover that much space is now taken up by Corn. The Corn Culture has crept into our little valley and I am concerned where it all may be headed!    This Corn Craze of course has been brought about by government incentives and social pressures of those promoting "Bio Fuels."    My question is a simple one.   Will this craze create a sh...

This post sounds political with all the RNC, DNC, ABC... but it isn't really.   Are you living in Bryan? Are you living in an RNC? Do you know? How could you know? Should you move? Below is the definition from the City of Bryan's website -  What is a Residential Neighborhood Conservation R-NC zoning district?  In April of 2006, Bryan's City Council approved an ordinance creating a new zoning classification, the Residential - Neighborhood Conservation District (R-NC). The R-NC District is a residential zoning classification intended primarily for low-density residential uses. Other residential zoning classifications allow up to four individuals that are not related to each other (by blood, marriage or adoption) to occupy a single-family dwelling. In R-NC Districts, only two individuals...

Since the Pope visited Washington D.C. this is a fitting challenge. Do you know where this beautiful building is located? To make the challenge a little more difficult I didn't name the jpg! To win the movie tickets you need to tell me where the building is located AND what it is called. No, CHURCH does not work as what it is called. Is it in Bryan? College Station? Navasota? Hearne? Caldwell? Franklin? Anderson? You just never know where real estate will take us... Good luck on the challenge!             Realtor & Sales Trainer for Century 21 Beal, Inc. #1 in Real Estate in Bryan and College Station Home Sales
