The Texas Longhorn is a breed that originated from Spanish cattle. Texas at the time was full of predators so the Longhorn became tough and could kill anything from grizzlies to mountain lions. The Texas Longhorn is the Mascott for the University of Texas Football team. For generations the Silver Spurs have provided the Longhorn that carries the name "BEVO". This year a new "BEVO" was introduced. The young Longhorn was branded with the month he was born "1" and the last number of the year he was born "2015" so it would have been a five. Fitting that this is the 15th BEVO used as the Texas mascott and the new BEVO bares the brand "15". GO LONGHORNS THIS IS YOUR YEAR!

PT 50, TREPAC and ABOR joined forces and welcomed Senator Kirk Watson from Austin at the Headliners Club this morning. Welcomed by an enthusiastic crowd of PT 50 Realtors and vendors he spoke at length about the birth and ongoing progress in the much discussed hospital district and formation of the Medical School, to be built on the campus of the University of Texas. Senator Watson enumerated about using a new playbook to acquire a Medical School at the University of Texas. It did not include relying on the state for funds. In two years from his “10 goals in 10 years” speech Austin is making substantial strides in helping Austin be all it can be.  “10 goals in 10 years” are as follows:   1. Build a medical school 2. Build a modern teaching hospital 3. Establish modern, uniquely Austin h...

“Foodie Fridays” in Austin       Why not plan on checking out the downtown campus area; "Austin scene" and grab a sandwich or burger and a beer  for a casual late lunch. I've found the perfect place to check out and enjoy lots of people watching:). Located in the West Campus area in the heart of the University of Texas, you don't have to worry you can even come after a run at Town Lake.....it’s super casual. I'd put it on your schedule before the co-eds return next month, you know how packed it will be then!             CUATROS          http://www.cuatrosaustin.com When owner, Cuatro, opened his restaurant he based it on his desire to create a fun place where people can go and just lay back and get good food and a cold drink served by friendly people.  He also wanted an open air kind ...

I had a great weekend my good friend Britt invited me to go with him to the UT vs Iowa St. game. It was my first time in the stadium. In addition to the Veterans Day tribute where the band formed the leading image of each branch of the military, it was also a time to pay tribute to Darrell Royal. Royal took over as head coach at University of Texas in December 1956, and achieved success almost instantaneously. The team went from a 1–9 record, their worst record ever, in 1956 to a 6–4–1 mark and a berth in the Sugar Bowl in 1957. In Royal's 20 years as head coach, Texas never had a losing season. Royal posted a 167–47–5 career record at Texas. His overall coaching record was 184–60–5. With Royal at the helm, Texas won three national championships (1963, 1969, and 1970), won or shared ...

Looking for University of Texas Housing?  If you are a student visiting this page, then you may want to think about proposing to your parents that they purchase a condo near the school as an investment property (unless you have the money to buy it yourself, which means I should have picked YOUR major when I was in college!). Here are a few reasons to consider buying versus renting during your college years. The Austin real estate market has positive appreciation trends and a strong rental market (especially near campus). For example, let's say you bought a 1 bathroom/1 bedroom condo when you started college in 2005 and then you decided to sell it in 2010 (and remember, a recession hit during this time). Your appreciation trend would look like this (this is for 1/1 condos within a mile r...
