Lake Austin is a "river" that runs through the heart of Austin TX, splitting the city in half, the Colorado River. It is fed from Lake Travis so it is a constant level lake, whereas Lake Travis is low because of the current drought.  That also makes Lake Austin's properties and land significantly more expensive than Lake Travis'.   It nice to go out on the boat and just look at the houses as we go by. Many boat docks for sale too. We saw one that had 3 slips, looked pretty run down, been on the market for a couple of years, and priced at a nice $725k. Yeah, ok (sarcasm).   Alyssa has been out on the boat with us many times, but she usually just swims or sits on the tube. After breaking down in the boat on Lake Austin on Saturday, Mike spent the next couple of days ordering new parts for the Supra Launch, waiting for the parts to come in, and then working on it the past couple of days. We took it for a test drive this afternoon, and it seems to all be working again. Two ew fuel pumps, in addition to a new steering cable, and other stuff I helped with and don't know what it was... This was my third time wakeboarding in one week!  I haven't done that in a couple of years! I'm feeling a little sore, but I'm loving my new CWB Edge wakeboard bindings. They're so much softer and lighter than my other ones. My feet and ankles love them! Summer decided to make another appearance here in Austin TX as we hit Triple Digits again this weekend.  I had this brilliant idea to go to Lake Austin because why would many people be out on the water after Labor Day??  Wow!  We were so totally and completely wrong!  There were so many boats on the water, it was hard to do much of anything. I took one short set of wakeboarding on my new CWB Edge Wakeboard Bindings, Mike did one set on the Wakeskate, and the rest was playing around on the tube with friends, and showing them how to wakeboard and surf behind the boat. All of the public boat ramps for Lake Travis are closed so we were forced to go to Lake Austin since Lake Austin is a constant-level lake (river). Lake Austin is a constant level lake, so even though Austin TX is having a very bad drought right now, there is still water in the lake. We usually go to Lake Travis, but all the boat ramps on Lake Travis are closed because the water is low there. Lake Austin is really just a "river", but history calls it a lake.   We finally had a cold front yesterday. It was only 96 degrees instead of 105, so we took a lunch break and headed out. I had not been on the boat since I was 7 months pregnant with Landon, and the last time I wakeboarded was even longer than that... but it was almost like riding a bike.    I was hesitant at first, but then started edging back and forth in the water. If you own a Lake Austin waterfront home, the LCRA and city of Austin are giving you a chance to do repairs on your waterfront or dock.  Beginning January 3, 2011, water levels in Lake Austin will start dropping for three weeks and remain low until February 8.  This Lake Austin lowering also helps contain unwanted vegetation on the lake bed. In years past, I have witnessed Lake Austin go from a lovely shimmering blue pool to a muddy trickle.  When the lake is lowered, only the center river channel carries water, flanked on both sides by a muddy mess.  It is not the best time to sell waterfront and water view properties.  I had a listing once with a great water view, but when the lake was lowered, it really took away from the property's ambiance.  Once the water came back up, the home so... 12/01/2010
