For more information about MLS listing #838827, click HERE!   Before you purchase a waterfront home, it's important to determine your needs and desires from your new home because not all watefront properties are created equal.  In most cases, you have to pay a premium (higher purchase price) for a waterfront property compared to a similar non-waterfront property.  Therefore it's crucial to evaluate your expectations of what you hope to gain from being "on the water" before buying anything.  You'll want to ask yourself questions such as, "Do I want to have a boat dock?", "Do I want to be able to fish off of my property?" and "Do I actually plan to use the water or am I okay with just having water views?".  For more information about how to choose the right waterfront home for you, click...

Wonderful Wordless Wednesday in Downtown Harriman, TN... If you know me you will know that I'm rarely wordless and most of the time I have to have the last word in, even if it's whispered as I'm walking out of the room.  I may be the only one to hear that last word but as least I've gotten it in the conversation. Well, this past Saturday I was somewhat wordless in Downtown Harriman Tennessee as I watched this lovely group of young people spend 2+ hours picking up trash in my little town.  We had about 40-50 teens from area churches give of their time to make our little town look good. Below is a picture of the teens taking a lunch break in my office.

Totally Tight Tuesday... This is C.J. and Seth. They're standing in front of C.J.'s Dad's Barber Shop, Kingston Barber Shop. C.J.'s Dad is Jamey, you may have read an earlier post with a picture of Seth and Jamey. Jamey was the boy's baseball coach this season. It was a fantastic season and so much of that had to do with Jamey and how he worked with the boys. C.J. and Seth are part of the Kingston All-Stars.  They are getting ready for the Tennessee Dixie Youth State Tournament which will be in our county the weekend of July 14-17. The haircut they're sporting is to get them psyched and ready to play ball. If you're passing through Roane County, Tennessee and need a hair cut, be sure and give Jamey a call. You can choose something other than what the boys have chosen.  If you are passin...

Wordless Wednesday... This has been a fantastic baseball season for Seth this year. His team finished first (championship pictures to follow) in their league.  He made all stars and is practicing several times a week for all stars. This is a picture of Seth and his coach Jamie Davis.  Jamie made this year really special for the boys.  He's alot of fun and taught the boys how to have fun and play like a team.  Instead of trophies the boys were given T-shirts with their team name on the front and pictures of baseballs on the back with their name and number inside the baseball. Wish us luck for all stars!

What kind of lots have been selling in Oak Ridge, Tennessee 37830 this year, 2011? Since January 1, 2011, the only lots that have sold in Oak Ridge, Tennessee are ones in Rarity Ridge. The average list price for those lots was $14,288 and the average sale price was $9,156. That is an amazingly low price for a lot in Oak Ridge, but Rarity Ridge eventually went in foreclosure and was recently sold again.  http://www.oakridger.com/business/x832281662/Rarity-Ridge-property-sells-for-9-million  http://www.knoxnews.com/news/2011/jun/03/9m-bid-nets-rarity-ridge/?print=1

Speechless Sunday at Redbones With Clients... I am so thankful for clients, especially in this day and time. For many, clients may be few and far between. I have been blessed with a steady stream of clients over the last few years and continue to be blessed.  Tonight I had the pleasure of dining with my newest client (buyer).  We had dinner at Redbones, out on the patio and were entertained with music by Kimber Cleveland, a very perky young lady with a voice similar to Cheryl Crowe or Janice Joplin. Other than the evening being extremely warm, I wouldn't have changed a thing!

Spectacular Saturday... Memorial Day Weekend has been packed full of many things to do today.  Harriman Tennessee had their first annual Memorial Day Parade and it was a great success. But, I'm jumping the gun here. We started off with a pancake breakfast sponsored by the Lion's Club of Harriman, and they weren't kidding...they did have the WORLD'S BEST PANCAKES!!!  Next stop was the parade...it was short but very sweet and touching. The parade ended at David Webb's Riverfront Park with a ceremony honoring our fallen military, fireman and police officers. I'm not sure what everyone did for the rest of the day but most of us finished off the night 'cutting a rug' to the music of Grand Prix.  It was a blast!  I for one think that a concert in the park during the months of April through Se...

The Light at the End of the Tunnel... I've had a couple of properties pending, just waiting to close.  We'd jumped through most of the hurdles... home inspections were fine, mortgage going well on one and cash transaction on the other.  Then low and behold disaster strikes with the dreaded termite letter.  Not on one but on both! Now I can count on one hand the termite treatments I've had to have over the last 23 years.  But, this wasn't just a termite treatment...there was quite a bit of damage too.  One seller committed to almost $7500 to have the problem corrected. The other reduced their price by $6000 and was willing to hold $4000 in escrow until the work was complete, just to make sure the work didn't exceed the $6000.00. We did close on one of the properties and then celebrated b...

Cruisin' in Harriman & Miss Polk Salad... Man...it was a happening day in the sleepy town of Harriman.  The 8th annual Miss Polk Salad was crowned and the winner is Taylor Lindsey.  Taylor is a high school senior and plans to use her winnings today to go toward college which she'll attend locally at Roane State Community College. Cruisin' in Harriman gathers in Downtown Harriman on the second Saturday of each month, rain or shine from April until August.  Attendance today was not as crowded as it usually is due to the threat of rain most of the day.  The cloud coverage made for a nice cool day, a welcome change from the heat and humidity we've been experiencing. I hope each of you have had a fun and productive weekend as well!
