Each year I do the 3day 60 mile Susan G Komen walk for breast cancer.  The hardest part about getting ready for this event is raising $2300.00.  Our team has actually bumped that goal to $5000.00 and we have been raising that amount for 9 years straight.  We walk in Seattle this year in September.  Our fundraiser this year is a calendar.  Each month is purchased from a business and they are responsible for their own cover page.  This picture was taken yesterday at Watauga Lake at Off The Grid Adventures.   They have Paddleboards, Kayaks and a banana boat.  It's just a terrific place to spend the day.  You are looking at the June cover 2016!

Butler Tennessee is home of Fish Springs Marina and Watauga Lake.  Watauga Lake is a wonderful lake to spend time on in the summer.  A great Summertime local event that entices many travelers, as well as locals to our area.  It is 80% Cherokee National Forest and 20% residential.  The lake is one of the largest in the State and is crystal clean.  It is refreshing, blue, pretty waters, set against a mountain back drop.  Just a lovely area.  It is my favorite lake in Tennessee and I try to spend as much time as possible in the summers on Watauga Lake.  Please enjoy our fun paddleboarding adventure.

Mountain City Tennessee is a delightful small town just over the mountain from Johnson City Tennessee.  It's about a forty minute drive, a pretty drive at that.  This post is a re-write of my original post http://actvra.in/NrC back in February of 2012.  I am now going to expand on the quaint town of Mountain City Tennessee. Mountain City, Tennessee is surrounded by mountains and lakes.  Watauga lake is one of the cleanest lakes in the Tri Cities and is proud to be associated with Mountain City.  Just a short drive to drop your boat in.  The great part about Watauga lake is that it is surrounded by 80% Cherokee National Forest.  The other 20% is homesteads.  The water is clear and blue and cold!  Not really, in the heat of the summer, that water is perfect for a quick dip!!  Mountain Cit...

Yesterday was the commencement ceremony for 156 students at Johnson County High School in Mountain City Tennessee.  It started promptly at 10:am and was a delight for the many family and friends who attended.   Tears were flowing from moms and students , cheers exploded as the final student accepted her diploma.  It was truly a delight to watch, and pulled at my personal heartstrings as I watched my niece, Samantha Rae Reece, take a new step into her future.  Congratulations graduates!!

We spent the day in Mountain City Tennessee today.  It is a rural area about an hour from the Tri-Cities.  It's a pretty drive around the lake and through the mountains. The water level has been very high the past week and the creeks were just busting over.  It was a beautiful peaceful afternoon and we really enjoyed the sites.  Mountain City is a quiet home town area and a great place to visit.

I went out to Watauga Lake this afternoon to check in with friends and family still on the boat from Labor day week-end.  Hey back to work!!  Not so fast, take a look at this calm lake and empty Marina.   Well maybe an extra day at the lake is not such a bad idea. Watauga lake is just beautiful.  It is 80% Cherokee National Forest and surrounded by Mountains. When visiting Tennessee, especially the Tri-Cities, make sure you put in a visit to Watauga Lake.  Call me for more information on this wonderful lake and the great properties for sale on this lake. My favorite property that is currently for sale is 2020 lakeview Drive Butler Tennessee.  It has the best view of the lake and mountains.  It really is a million dollar view!

Lakeview being the key word here!  2020 Lakeview drive Butler Tennessee sits on the prettiest point of the lake which overlooks the lake that covers up "Old Butler".  yep that's right, The old town of Butler Tennessee was flooded over (on purpose) and now is under water. And so the story goes......  Butler had an over abundance of water in the form of floods which caused many deaths in the small Tennessee communinty. There was a powerful killer flood in 1940 and the Tennessee Valley Authority made a decision to build a Dam, flooding the town of Butler and all valleys surrounding it.  Butler is the only town to ever be flooded by the Tennessee Valley Authority.

Driving home is usually not an issue for me.  I just take a deep breathe and take in the beauty of Northeast Tennessee.  This picture is taken driving over the Butler bridge around Watauga lake.  Watauga lake is especially wonderful because it is 80% Cherokee National forest.  The other 20% is residential, which for a large lake like Watauga, this is quite a great break down.  Watauga Lake is also surrounded by majestic mountains and views from every angle.  There are some fantastic listings on this lake as well.  please visit me for an exclusive list of homes, views and prices, on Watauga lake.

I had showings in this weather!  And I went too. This is in the Mountains in Tennessee, specifically Mountain City.  It snowed for two days straight.  The roads are covered with a layer of ice, then snow on top of that.  You cannot shovel fast enough to have a clear driveway.  Crazy! Be safe out there.. Schools are closed Tri-Cities!

The Ridge at Watauga Lake is a hidden gem nestled in the countryside high above the lake's shores. "The Ridge" combines the pristine pastoral beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains with the laid back community atmosphere that his part of the world is famous for. Watauga Lake sits 1,959 feet above sea level and is 10.05 square miles although only 47 miles of shoreline are privately owned as the shoreline is very steep in most places. The winding mountain roads that you must take in order to get to the lake keep it a well kept local secret. While the lake is located in Tennessee, it  is only 3 miles from the North Carolina border. Watauga Lake is 15 miles from Mountain City, Tennessee and only 22 miles from Boone, NC. "The Ridge" is only minutes from the Pioneer Landing Marina, the eastern mo...

Spent yesterday taking a day to enjoy the beauty of the area here in Northeast Tennessee. This was taken in a National Forest close to Mountain City.  It is called Gentry Creek Falls.  There are 13 creeks to cross before you reach an incredible waterfall at the end.  Judging by the next picture, you may understand why we only made it across 6creeks before we turned around!  Our only other choice would have been...swimming! I had to shimmy down this tree- trying to get BACK across was not quite as easy- that's a whole nother story! Did I mention it was cold?  This area has so much to offer.  If you are looking for an all around place to live, hiking, mountains, lakes, look no more!  It's here in Northeast Tennessee.
