Some people have not ever heard of Tellico Plains, located in East Tennesee.  I have tried to make a trip to Tellico Plains for the Christmas parade each year but have had other demanding things that had to be done. I just was able to enjoy the parade via You Tube.  If you follow my blog, you already know that this is a special place for me.  It respresents a peaceful lifestyle in the mountains near Gatlinburg and Knoxville and the opportunity to share the beauty of this part of our country.p> Gorgeous views are almost everywhere in Tellico Plains.   There are many wonderful free things to do and see in Monroe County Tennessee and its small towns that border the Cherokee National Forest.  My husband and I christened our new Harley Touring bike by riding over the Cherohala Skyway.  We have microphones in our helmets so we can communicate to each other and point out all the attractions, just in case one misses one point of interest.    Our route started at the outskirts of Tellico Plains.  We wanted to be fully prepared for our ride so we stopped at one of the nice restaurants by the gorgeous Tellico River.  We enjoyed our burger and listened to the Tellico River meander down its stream.  What a beautiful place to just stop and let the world go by and smell the fresh air and engulf all that nature gave us to enjoy and love.   Beauti... 07/20/2009

"TELLICO PLAINS!! LOOKING FOR A NICE PLACE TO "GET AWAY"?  I have a great suggestion to take a trip to East Tennessee and meander into the mountains and valleys of beautiful Tellico Plains.  HGTV's FINE LIVING  had an hour program of the Ten most beautiful drives and places in the United States and Tellico Plains ranked #7.  #1 was the Redwood Forest in California.  My husband and I love outdoor sports and we both ride Motorcycles.  HGTV toured Tellico with their motorcycles and drove the beautiful Cherohala Skyway.  So guess who packed their motorcycles and met friends in Tellico Plains and started our ride.  Cherohala Skyway starts out about 800 ft above sea level and ends up around 5000 ft above sea level before decendidng into North Carolina.  The ride is approximately 53 miles.  We made our run in m... 03/21/2008
