Wonderful Wordless Wednesday in Downtown Harriman, TN... If you know me you will know that I'm rarely wordless and most of the time I have to have the last word in, even if it's whispered as I'm walking out of the room.  I may be the only one to hear that last word but as least I've gotten it in the conversation. Well, this past Saturday I was somewhat wordless in Downtown Harriman Tennessee as I watched this lovely group of young people spend 2+ hours picking up trash in my little town.  We had about 40-50 teens from area churches give of their time to make our little town look good. Below is a picture of the teens taking a lunch break in my office.

Spectacular Saturday... Memorial Day Weekend has been packed full of many things to do today.  Harriman Tennessee had their first annual Memorial Day Parade and it was a great success. But, I'm jumping the gun here. We started off with a pancake breakfast sponsored by the Lion's Club of Harriman, and they weren't kidding...they did have the WORLD'S BEST PANCAKES!!!  Next stop was the parade...it was short but very sweet and touching. The parade ended at David Webb's Riverfront Park with a ceremony honoring our fallen military, fireman and police officers. I'm not sure what everyone did for the rest of the day but most of us finished off the night 'cutting a rug' to the music of Grand Prix.  It was a blast!  I for one think that a concert in the park during the months of April through Se...

Cruisin' in Harriman & Miss Polk Salad... Man...it was a happening day in the sleepy town of Harriman.  The 8th annual Miss Polk Salad was crowned and the winner is Taylor Lindsey.  Taylor is a high school senior and plans to use her winnings today to go toward college which she'll attend locally at Roane State Community College. Cruisin' in Harriman gathers in Downtown Harriman on the second Saturday of each month, rain or shine from April until August.  Attendance today was not as crowded as it usually is due to the threat of rain most of the day.  The cloud coverage made for a nice cool day, a welcome change from the heat and humidity we've been experiencing. I hope each of you have had a fun and productive weekend as well!

Mountains to Lakes Real Estate as Seen by Cindy Edwards... Cindy Edwards is a good friend of mine and has been for about 10 years.  Cindy and I met as we began serving as Chapter President of our local chapters for the Women's Council of Realtors.  Cindy was serving for the Johnson City, Tennessee chapter and I served for the Knoxville, Tennessee chapter.   Cindy has been a great teacher in technology 101 for me.  She is always out there trying the newest and best and I'm always a step or two behind.  It's because of good friend Cindy that I'm an Active Rain member. Cindy was in my area, Harriman Tennessee this past week and we spent some time with her handy dandy Flip camera.  We showcased several businesses including my own. This one is Cindy's video of Mountains to Lakes Real Estate....

Amazing Bakes Cookies and Cakes... This week I had the privilege of spending a couple of days with my AR friend Cindy Edwards.  I have to say Cindy is really with it when it comes to technology, and I'm kind of lacking in that department.  But, Cindy is sooooo good to help me and share her knowledge with me. Cindy has a handy dandy Flip camera and so we set out yesterday (Wednesday) to make a few snazzy videos of the cool shops in Downtown Harriman, Tennessee.  So, thanks to Cindy here's one of my first videos!  You can bet that one of those little snazzy cameras is on my list to purchase this weekend. >

The Body Farm founder Dr. Bass will offer first hand accounts of unusual and fascinating forensic cases seen over the years at the farm. Many of the cases are the inspiration for his novels, along with people and places he has met. The newest book for Dr. Bass is The Bone Yard and will be available for purchase ($25) and signing. Part of the proceeds will help the library purchase new books. Dr. Bass will be at the Harriman High School Auditorium tonight April 7th at 7:00. This is a FREE event and one that should be very interesting. The Princess....(BEFORE) Harriman Tennessee is in the process of a HUGE revitalization effort beginning with a 1.9 million dollar renovation of the Princess Theater. The Princess Theater first opened in 1926, the Princess was damaged by fire six years later and destroyed by a blaze in 1939.  It was rebuilt 10 months later. My Mother, Glenda was born in 1943 and remembers when she and her girlfriends used to meet their boyfriends for Saturday matinees.  It cost them each a whopping 14 cents to get in.  Roy Rogers and Gene Autry were the stars of the Big Screen. When my girls (now 30 & 26) were teenagers, their first jobs were at The Princess Theater.  They were 15 at the time and worked in concessions. I truly think The Princess had the BEST popcorn ever!  The theater closed in 1999. Rig...
