SNOW IN TENNESSEE It is beautiful outside, everything white and pristine. Snow tips the limbs on the trees and bushes giving a snow kissed scene. I know most people do not like the snow for it inhibits you from getting anywhere. The roads are fine here!                                               Crossville does a great job cleaning the roads so you can get any where you need to go. Some of the back roads are still slick but the main roads are clear. If you are trying to decide whether Tennessee is the place for you to move to-do not let the snow deter you! Cumberland Medical Center Wellness Complex at Crossville and Fairfield Glade are offering "Free" Fridays as part of an effort to fight an obesity epidemic facing  the nation and especially Tennessee. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta, GA, in 2009, Alabama, Arkansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Oklahoma, Tennessee and West Virginia all reported nearly one of three residents as obese. New Library with a Wonderful History Crossville, Tennessee has a brand new library facility and it is absolutely gorgeous.  It literally just opened a few months ago and is such a great part of this growing community.  I was reading through the Chamber of Commerce magazine the other day and I was able to find a whole article dedicated to the history of this place.   Every story has a beginning and this place is not any different.  It all started back in 1898.  More than a hundred years ago, a group of women decided to get together and discuss politics, life and more commonly, books they had read.  Originally, there were ten women initially that began this little social club.  The main reason for such a small group was the limited space and room for a bigger group.  As the years progress... 08/19/2010

Fairest of the Fair It is that time in Cumberland County!  The award-winning Cumberland County Fair is only 3 weeks away and this is a big deal in the community.  Every year, thousands of people show up and enjoy what all there is to take part in. Tax Free Weekend in Tennessee One of the greatest things about living in Tennessee is the low amount of taxes.  Unlike many other states, the cost of taxes is significantly lower in Tennessee.  In Cumberland County specifically, there are very low property taxes and no wheel tax.  The only catch is that there is a higher sales tax.  The sales tax for the Cumberland County area is 9.75%.  This weekend is the last before the students gear up and get ready to go back to school.  There is a lot of shopping to be done before they can load up and head to school.  Every year, Tennessee has a weekend that there is no sales tax on school related items.  This weekend is finally here.  Friday through Sunday, this weekend only is the tax free weekend all throughout the state.  The items that are ta... 08/07/2010
