Not only am I small business as a realtor, but I also own commercial property in Surfside Beach, SC.  Leasing this property is absolutely crucial to my small business success, as it is to others in the area I am sure.  Small business, especially now, must be allowed to thrive in this time of recession, not take a giant leap backward. Surfside Beach Houses are Selling Fast!  It wasn't long ago when all we heard was that the prices of Surfide Beach houses were falling. In most cases, houses on the beach or across the street from the beach fell by 50% or more. Some that originally sold for $1,000,000 sold for later for $450,000. My love of the sand, sea and sun were the reasons I bought Surfside Beach real estate. I was looking for a place to relocate to where the cost of living was less than up north. Then I discovered coastal South Carolina. At that time Surfside Beach real estate could be purchased for half of what the same properties cost in my town up north. Horry County has contracted with the State to continue to sell State Park Passes and is offering them to local residents at a discounted price. The discounted park passes will be sold only at the Surfside Beach Library or the Socastee Library. The passes, which are valid for one-year, cost $50 if purchased at a state park, but Horry County will continue to sell them to County residents at a discount. Effective July 1, 2009 the discounted price increased to $40.00. Residents must show some form of residency like a tax bill, driver's license, voter registration card, etc. Each family may receive up to two passes a year.
