The NAPA Auto Parts store on Hardscrabble Road had their Grand Opening celebration on Saturday the 29th of September. They had FREE hot dogs and soda, footballs, and ball caps. There was a drawing for a NAPA grill and for a really cool bike. I entered the drawing for the grill. The #55 NASCAR car was there too, it was really cool. I had my battery checked while I was there, and the staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. The store manager, Tracy Dunn, is very nice so stop by and see her and her staff.       NAPA Auto Parts #0124507 Hardscrabble RoadColumbia, Sc 29229

TIPS FOR CHOOSING THE RIGHT KIND OF MORTGAGE Home buying can be stressful or uncertain at times. In today's market, there's much debate about what type of mortgage to get - an adjustable-rate or a fixed mortgage. And when is it time to consider refinancing an adjustable-rate mortgage? Here are some points to ponder: • If you are buying a home now, consider whether you'll be able to handle rate increases before choosing an adjustable-rate mortgage. Don't let the decision be simply, "What is the cheaper payment to get me into the house." This may not be the best choice for the future. Depending on your situation, you could also consider a five-year ARM if you know you'll move before it starts adjusting, or if your projected income will increase. On the other hand, for stability, select a ...

I'm sure most of you all know that for some time now the residence of The Summit have been fighting for a much needed traffic signal at the corner of Summit Parkway and Summit Ridge Dr. It has been said that the signal should be approved by the County in October. Maybe by 2008 we'll have that light in place.

Many of the clients I work with are relocating to the Columbia, SC area.  Relocating is always a challenge- I myself know what it's like to be brand new to Columbia, this is why I offer my potential clients something that I wish had been done for me when I first moved to the area!  I bring them along on what I like to call a "Cook's Tour" of Columbia.Columbia, despite being a smaller city- does have a very large spread.  Different areas- like Chapin, West Columbia, or Blythewood have very different things to offer.  This tour gives the customer a great chance to get to see all the different areas that Columbia has to offer!  By the time we really start shopping for houses- now they are more familiar with the areas around Columbia and will know when I say that a house is in the Irmo area...

I am pretty fed up with the way the national media is portraying the current housing market situation.  Headlines such as "Housing Market Plummets" and "Home Sale Prices Down" are not relatively true. One must realize is that the past 5 years of real estate in this country has been very profitable and advantageous.  During this time, many areas INFLATED their home pricing.  Buyers were able to get easy loan terms, and many buyers who otherwise would not be eligible for a loan, took advantage of the low interest rates.  Many purchasers had questionable credit, and were still able to get 100% financing.   The housing market is experiencing the same rule of economy that the stock market does.  When pricing is inflated, and people play the industry hard and fast, then there HAS to be a corre...

Last night there was a GREAT display of fireworks in The Summit. The sky was filled with colors. My wife and I enjoyed the display from our balcony. We saw our neighbors spending quality time with there kids and thought that will be us soon. Yes, we are expecting our first child in a few months, well a little before Christmas. I hope everyone was safe last night. I didn't hear any emergency vehicles last night so that should be a good sign. I can't wait till I can spend time with my child and I can't think of a better neighborhood than this one to raise our kids. Thanks to everyone who put on the Great fireworks display!Christopher Pike, Realtor
