I will say first and foremost that I am sorry for the pictures in this post, it was dark and all I had was my cell phone, so I did not get any great shots. All that aside, no pictures would do teh renovations of the historic Curtiss Wright Hanger at Owens Field justice.   If you are a fan of craft beer and live in the Columbia, SC area then you likely know that the Hunter Gatherer, a local brew pub, has been a fixture in this city for quite some time. What you may not know is that they are indeed the fine folks that did the wonderful renovatioins to The Curtiss Wright Hanger and have now opened a second location in Rosewood.   While The Hunter Gatherer at Curtiss Wright Hanger in Rosewood does not have the same full blown menu as their original location on Main Street behind the State...

I assume that we all basically want the same thing out of our blogging efforts here at Active Rain right? We want to reach more people and learn from those in the trenches with us and at the end of the day, maybe just maybe we will see our hard work rewarded with dare I say a phone call or two that leads to some business. You are not alone. In fact that are tons of writers here blistering their keyboards for the chance to meet their next client or catch their next referral. This leads directly to the point of my post. Are you sure to be yourself in the process?   You see it's very easy to seem one way or the other while you have ample time to write, rewrite, edit, ponder, and draft before you hit the publish button. So you can always pretend that you are the life of the party with jok...

There are certainly much worse views to see while taking a walk. As you can see from the picture, there are also built in swings, both on the dam and in other areas of Sunset Park.  There are also a couple of built in grills if taking a hike is less on your game plan for the day and a picnic with the family sounds better for your agenda. Home owners in Lake Carolina regularly take advantage of this area and one trip makes it easy to see ...

Located just off of I-26 and just outside of downtown Columbia, SC Riverbanks Zoo and Gardens opened their doors April 25, 1974. Today the attraction has come a long way from it's beginnings as the 170 acre site is home to historic sites, nature trails, sprawling gardens, over 2,000 majestic animals, and various activities that include a climbing wall, horseback riding, zip lines, and an obstacle tower in the center of it all.  This was easily a favorite of mine when I was a child and has remained a favorite now that I take my very own children to enjoy and explore all Riverbanks has to offer.   There is too much to do and too much to name and in all honesty this post will barely scratch the surface of what calls Riverbanks home. The lower section of Riverbanks Zoo is set up in the ci...

When you want legal advice, I assume that more often than not you find yourself picking up the phone and calling an attorney. If you have some frayed wires sticking out of your wall and you're not that handy, just a guess here, but you probably contact an electrician. And if you happy to be sick, then maybe it's time to consult a physician.  Whatever the problem may be, chances are you know to speak with a professional on the subject and take their advice when dispensed. I mean that's just good sense right?  So that being said, and now that we have established that getting advice from a professional is a good idea, why on Earth is real estate so different? If a doctor tells you that you have an infection and that you should take these antibiotics or you'll get worse, you take the medi...

Lake Carolina Columbia, SC  Though we may be about a month away from Springtime in most of the country, with temperatures reaching 80 today and highs around the same for the rest of  the, it looks like Spring has sprung in Lake Carolina. I snapped this picture of the fountain at front entrance of the community on my way home this evening.   With flowers starting to peek out from the ground and the green grass stretching across the ground, the beauty of Lake Carolina is becoming easier to see. Now is a great time to get a head start on your home search so you can enjoy all the community has to offer by Summer. Of course, if you are planning on selling a home, now is a great time to put it on the market before other sellers waiting for the Summer decide to list. Now is a great time to t...

I from time to time hear agents say that they would like to opportunity to build their sphere of business owners. Why would they want to do that exactly? Well I'm glad you asked. That's because you catch more fish with a net than you do with a hook. You see having business owners in your sphere helps you reach out to their contacts through them.  So how would you go about meeting new business owners to add to your sphere? Well, you have a blog and a business card right? I started doing Local Spotlight blogs years ago and I have just started back when I began blogging again here. These blogs highlight local businesses and advertise them. I simply go to a locally owned store or service provider with a camera and a business card and introduce myself to the owner or manager. Then I explai...
