Exploring Block Island with Miss Feng Shui in 2015  This is becoming a yearly trip and tradition for myself, to visit Block Island, RI. From Montauk NY, it's 1:15 mins away on the Viking Speed Ferry. Its funny how New Yorkers and Long Islanders alike express their interest in traveling to a remove tropical islands to get away. Perhaps if we took better care of the island we already occupy that would not be a desire. Either way, I have faith that moment in time will come. For the time being, if you are looking to get away and have a moment to yourself or to share with loved ones and friends, Block Island, RI is a great option. You will gather all the experiences tropical islands have to offer, while saving money and traveling at less distance. Over the Memorial Day weekend I treated mysel...

A Bicycle Rider's Paradise on the Beauty Block Island RI They have their cars to explore and I have my bike! A quick few pointers before you travel off to Block Island that I learned the hard way The only ferry that leaves from Long Island NY and directly connects to Block Island, RI is from Montauk NY. You can either arrive as a "walk on" and park your car or you can bring your car, but check in advance what Ferry Ports allow which options.  Honestly, after exploring Block Island myself, it's just easier to ride your bike around the entire island or rent a moped.  The streets are narrow and crowded with hikers and bikers. Do keep in mind though, these ferry's charge for everything! So check the prices ahead of time, if you are to bring your bike, surfboard, motorcycle..all will have a ...

Motivational Monday: Cool to be Kind "Cool to be Kind" is the T-shirt that first greeted me as I started my exploration around Block Island RI. If you could come up with a T-shirt that had a positive message, what would it say? What symbol would you choose to use if any? At the same time I took it as a sign of mom saying Hi!

A Day on Block Island- Rhode Island's Best Kept Secret.  It is the escape anyone might be looking for...stress free, full of sun and beaches, great food at the restaurants, boating haven for sure and yes so much more- that is right I am talking about RI's best kept secret Block Island. Pristine in landscape, rolling hills (really on this small island of 17 miles of beaches), high bluffs and precipices, it captivates the soul to be spending time here and that is what I did a week ago with friends.  Scooting away aboard the Block Island ferry from Galilee RI, it is a 50 minute ferry ride to Old Harbor which is where the town is. We're going to BI we shout out as we pull away from the dock!  It is a smooth sail over and pulling into Old Harbor where the marinas are as well as New Harbor, m...

Now that winter is officially here, I have turned my attention to summer with the hope of forgetting the expected frigid weather conditions. One place I love visiting is Block Island in Rhode Island; with 17 miles of beach and a slower pace of life it really fits right in with my idea of vacation. When I visit, I spend many hours just walking around the island, discovering new plants, visiting the the lighthouses, watching the boats and other tourists biking. after a nice long walk I always look forward to finding a place where my favorite ice cream is served, rum raisin. At the end of the day I am usually very tired (but a good tired) and with the air from the ocean I also get a good night's sleep.   Jennifer Fivelsdal- Associate Broker- Keller Williams Realty Team - 845-758-6842- jen...

Last Friday, we took the Block Island Ferry over to the island and spent some time relaxing and enjoying the sunshine.  It was a pretty hot day so our plan of hiking sort of morphed into exploration of the Southeast Lighthouse and Mohegan Bluffs, taking some pictures and then stopping for lunch at the National, followed by a visit to the Oar, where we watched the boats go by for a while. Block Island is 10 square miles but contains some really amazing cliffs, hiking trails, beaches and restaurants, not to mention 17 miles of beach.  It's very easy to get to  - a short, relaxing ferry ride over from Point Judith.  If you've never been, I definitely recommend spending some time on Block Island this summer!  Though property in Block Island, Rhode Island has increased I feel that it is well worth it.  The amount of tourists has significantly improved and residential housing has also increased.  I enjoy managing my properties here and my clients love the area as well as I do.  The ferry system is great too...........it makes the island easily accessible, after all the years I have managed here shows great improvement.  This seems to also play a major role in attracting newcomers.

Since I do a lot of work on Block Island I often like to meet with clients over lunch at The Mohegan Cafe & Brewery.  It's perfect to meet with clients since its right by the ferry in Old Harbor and is also on Water street.  I always receive great service and the food is great for a casual lunch.....great place for a lower key business lunch.

Vacation rentals on Block Island are selling like hotcakes.  Everyday I have more and more clients asking me if there are any they can look at.  The property in the area is great but is hard for me to find more places to build.  I currently manage one property here but am looking to invest in another.

This is a fantastic spot and a major tourism attraction.  I manage most of my properties in this area.  A fabulous market for vacation homes and rentals.  (I personally even own one here I love it so much).  They have two beautiful lighthouses as well as many other attractions.  This area is easily accessible by ferry.  A great place for couples or families.
