Yarn has always been in my life from the time I was little. I learned many crafts at an early age and I fondly remember my mother and her mother crocheting for hours on end, making blankets for family members and friends. Crocheting is something I keep going back to over the years, and in recent years I have picked it up again and have combined my efforts of making things, with my wanting to help people in need by creating items others can use to keep themselves warm. For a few years I was making scarves for the homeless in the Kensington section of Philadelphia which were distributed around the Christmas holiday. Yesterday we finally received the snow and freezing rain that had been predicted for almost a week.There was so much reporting of this storm in advance that people in our area seemed to be shopping for days to ensure they were ready for the worst.I have to admit, we did our fair share of pre-storm shopping, and I texted a bit with my sisters about what we were buying and what meals and soups we were all going to make when we were snowed in.I appreciate the fact that predictions of such weather events are more on target, but Mother Nature never adheres to what the weather people predict, and in a way that is a good thing.We got a bit less then predicted snow wise, but the sleet/freezing rain part, they were pretty much right on about that.It was wonderful to watch the snow falling.
