I had the pleasure of participating in the dedication of the Veterans Memorial Pavilion in my hometown, East Goshen.  The Veterans Memorial Pavilion honors all veterans past, present and future that have served our country to protect the freedom that we have enjoyed all of our lives.  East Goshen Township Park is located on Paoli Pike, just east of Route 352.  Sons of the American Revolution, Posting of the Colors The Master of Ceremonies, Senya D. Isayeff, a retired Army officer was very interesting, very funny and quite entertaining.  Amerikids entertained the crowd with lovely renditions of the Star Spangled Banner, God Bless America and My America. There were several speakers present.  Ann Marie Fletcher-Moore, Chairperson, East Goshen Township Park and Recreation Board.  E. Martin ...

Today I took my usual walk at &;15 after I dropped my daughter off at school.  What a beautiful day it is, I had my jacket on but I actually thought that it might be time to get the gloves and hat out. My dog, a big AKITA, loves this weather.  Even though he is 10 years old, he gets a "puppy" HOP to his walk on days like this.  He even seems like he wants to go around the track more than once. Anyway, I got permission to publish this on my blog today.  Its a great time to GET OUT AND ENJOY!  Downtown West Chester UPDATE West Chester (PA) Business Improvement DistrictOctober 2008   ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ What's happening in downtown West Chester > > Great weather for Gallery Walk this Friday Night.> > Kenny White performance sure to be a hit!   > > Chester Count...

What a lovely day to be alive in West Chester, Pennsylvania!  The weather was sunny and in the mid 70's most of the day.   Max had a soccer game and he played his heart out.  They lost, but hey, you can't win them all.  Why?  I'm' not sure! I get a big kick out of watching Max play sports.  He's a really decent player and a very good sport on the field.  He's very quick to praise those that do well and I think that's a wonderful quality to have. After the game, I took a ride over to West Chester Borough to walk around a little at the Restaurant Festival!  It was mobbed.  There was food galore and it all smelled wonderful.  I popped in on my friends from ACAC Fitness Club and stayed to do a Zumba demo on the corner of High and Gay Street.  Zumba is a Latin American Dance Aerobic phenomen...

I am not a morning person.  There has never been a single day in my almost 49 years that I opened my eyes and greeted the day.  Never.  When I wake up, it's usually to a caffeine withdrawal headache and a profound desire to go back to sleep.  It's not that I am unpleasant, it's just that I am the walking dead.  Max, my 12 year old is a mini-me, a very slow starter in the morning.  We don't necessarily want to chat, so please don't attempt small talk.  Please don't take offense if I just wave and keep on going in the direction of my tea kettle.  I remember being invited to someones home at the beach for an overnight.  The woman had no tea kettle.  I didn't know her very well, and I hadn't slept very well as she did not have central air.  I came down to a BIG MORNING PERSON and a regular ...

Midday yesterday, I was out looking at the flowers and ruminating on the market.  As the title implies, the garden is good, the market is, while maybe not evil, it could certainly be a bit nicer.  We are all working hard, putting buyers and sellers together, and some things just aren't working out.  Either because the sales are falling through due to unrealistic expectations at the home inspection, or the mortgage companies just not being able to perform the magic they promised us.  I love to walk around my garden and I even talk to the flowers most days.  Eccentric?  You betcha!  Usually just a hello you guys, or a touch of a petal.  My garden makes me happy and yesterday, I sat by the pool and was mesmerized by the butterflies flitting from one flower to another, the birds landing her...

Home Maintenance tips for August 2008 Use a vacuum with a narrow nozzle to clean condenser coils on the back or underneath your refrigerator. Check faucets for leaks and replace washers or repair the faucet as necessary. Clean underneath range hood. Remove and clean or replace range hood filters. Fix "water hammer" noises by draining the plumbing system. Open the uppermost faucet (or the one furthest from the water meter) and the lowest (or closest to the meter) and allow the water to flow to a lower-level sink or floor drain. Draining the system restores air to air chambers. Close the lowest faucet and refill the system. Plan interior remodeling projects and get estimates. Plan for the work to be done in early fall.

Tomorrow nite at the township park, there will be a "country" band playing music.  I am a cheap date because i find it fun and relaxing to pack a picnic dinner, bring a bottle of wine and head to the local park.  What a relaxing evening. And, as if that isn't enough fun, the talk of the town this week is the GOSHEN FAIR. Ever since I lived in the area, (its been almost 12 years) in Late JULY a dependable fun event has been the Goshen Fair. They have farm animals, they have "BEST LOOKING TOMATOES, CORN, STRINGBEANS" from the local gardeners including real judges with Blue Ribbons to the best!. But most important, for the benefit of the GOSHEN FIRE COMPANY, a family nite out for amusement rides, wheels of fortune, gambling, cotton candy, the homemade firehouse donuts........ It is an annu...

East GoshenTownship, Chester County-Market Report 2nd Quarter 2008* The peak Median Sold Price for East Goshen Township occurred October 2007 at $422,750. The comparison between October 2007 peak and June of 2008 shows a Median Sold price that’s down (24.07%). The real estate market in East Goshen Township still indicates a buyer’s market with 7.5 Months of Inventory, but not a really strong Buyers Market. The significant drop in the days on market from 85 DOM to 41 DOM, a 52% drop, puts East Goshen in a good position. There are fewer top heavy new construction projects to weigh down the market here in East Goshen Township. The 17 homes that went under contract in June of 2008 and the 20 that settled represents a (23%) drop in units from June of 2007. This is still a story of property t...

ACAC, West Chester's premiere health club hosted a fundraising event entitled Exercise for Hope on Tuesday, 6/24/08. This was a fun and incredibly challenging workout featuring cardio, sculpting, and zumba with some of ACAC's finest instructors.  These people are serious about fitness!  Diane Toomey  Liz Salloum  Jeanette Mills  Jim Jackson  Tracy Shields It was a blast.  Diane Toomey started the fun with what she calls a "warmup".  This woman is insane.  I could barely catch my breath. The second 30 minutes consisted of stations... various implements of torture.  I'm not sure I'll be walking right tomorrow (Jesse... no comments on my shoes please). The last 30 minutes was Zumba, my personal favorite.  Lead by Jeanette Mills and Jimmy Jackson (a.k.a. the Pool Boy... ladies... you can im...
