This Friday is West Chester Borough's Old Fashioned Christmas Parade.  Friday is actually the kick off to an entire weekend of fun things you can do with your family, with your friends, with your honey, with anyone at all or completely by yourself.  There is something for everyone! On Friday, 12/4, beginning at about 5:30, many merchants will be open for refreshments and/or entertainment.  If you haven't visited West Chester lately, you are in for a treat.   We have many high-end restaurants, boutiques, gift shops and more.  I just love it here and I know you will too! The Christmas Parade starts at 8:00 PM, which is an hour later than it has traditionally started and I believe the route is a bit different.  Please use this link to get all the details!  http://www.gwcc.org/chamber-event...

For years, 22 years to be exact, I remember this 1st weekend in December for the Old Fashioned Christmas,  SANTA on the Fire Truck parade down GAY Street in Downtown West Chester http://www.downtownwestchester.com/ I remember it very specifically because we would always meet friends in front of the court house every half hour on the half hour (back then we didn't have cell phones) until we were together in a group sipping our hot chocolates and visiting all the "christmas programs".  The local banks and galleries have events going on and serve refreshments like free cookies and hot apple cider and it is  just a great social time. ......and then, after the visits to the banks and galleries we would hit the bars. That one in 1986 was particularly memorable. My husband and his friend were ...

It's a beautifully sunny day in West Chester today and I took a few hours out of the day to bag leaves.  There was a time when I wouldn't have considered working in my garden in the middle of a work week for fear that a client or a potential neighbor-turned client would think that I wasn't a busy Realtor!  I now realize that most people understand that real estate agents work when everyone else is home.  Sure, I work lots during the work day, processing sales, doing paperwork, attending home inspections, prospecting for new clients, emailing current buyers homes for them to preview, marketing my listings and countless other jobs.  But the face to face buyer/seller time is usually done in the evening and on weekends, when most people are enjoying their families or friends.  Yesterday, th...

West Chester Borough is a college town and a wonderful place to visit.  Thursday night was the annual Halloween Parade.  Words just can't do this town justice as a place for families and friends to gather to celebrate life. I'll let the pictures do the talking! The marching bands from all 3 high schools and West Chester University were in attendance!!   Various color guards and cheerleaders... Adults and children alike were in costume... Santa even made an appearance, although he looked a bit peaked.   State Senator Dinniman along with his dog and Representative (my all time favorite) McIlvaine Smith were also in attendance! My son Max and his friends enjoyed it immensely!                 I always enjoy going to events in West Chester borough.  If you have never been there, it's worth t...

I live and work in East Goshen, Chester County.  It's a lovely township, some liken to the suburbs of Delaware County, as East Goshen is sometimes as far West of the city of Philadelphia as some buyers would like to be.  The mission statement of the township, as per their website is as follows:            Endeavor to be one of the premier communities in Chester County by continually           improving the quality of life while, at the same time, managing growth and development           in a manner consistent with the protection of our environment and preservation of our           natural and historic resources. I can speak to my experience here as a convenient, clean and welcoming township that boasts two gorgeous parks, with great walking paths, a responsive township, some decent piz...

I have a daily routine, I think a lot of people do.  If you are in the Real Estate Business your daily routine is not as routine as most, it is usually an "unusual schedule", you work evenings and weekends, but I have had to build "structure" into my day in order to feel Normal.  (well somewhat normal because normal isn't as fun as I like.  :)  People who know me well know that they can find me out on an hour long walk any time from 6:30 AM to 8:30 AM and most days it is in West Goshen Community Park. The park is nice, there is a loop that is almost a mile, I add a bend that overlooks the reservoir to mine and it IS a mile.  I usually go around the loop at least 3 times, sometimes 4.  Somedays I go to other places to walk. Ultimately, it is a great day when I walk at the park!

ACAC Fitness and Wellness Center is my favorite hang out and one of my passions is making sure that everyone has enough to eat.  So, I think it's fitting that ACAC is hosting a food drive to support the West Chester Food Cupboard.  The West Chester Food Cupboard came into existence on March 1, 2009, one day after the Cares Food Network went out of business.  It is run by a small group of volunteers to keep a food cupboard within the borough to provide assistance for low income families.  Just last month, 333 families were served.  That's over 1100 people, the largest number of families ever. They have seen about a 30% increase in the need for assistance while experiencing a 25% decrease in the level of donations.  Due to the budget crisis in Harrisburg, they currently have no state fund...

If you know me, you know I love my dog.  When I finally got my dog at almost 49 years old last year, the very first place I took her to was Rocky Hill Veterinary Clinic.  That first puppy, Maggie Moo,  soon became very ill, and I took her to see Dr. McGrath.  He was wonderful with her and with us, and the compassion that Max and I were shown at this office was truly above and beyond.  We had to return Maggie Moo to the bad breeder we bought her from, but we rectified that as soon as possible by reporting the deplorable conditions there. Maggie Moo and many other dogs were confiscated from there and hopefully placed in loving homes where they are loved and honored as the gifts that they are. We got JJ a few days later.  There is not another Veterinarian that I would trust my beloved JJ t...

ACAC Fitness and Wellness Center in West Goshen, my favorite place to get fit, is calling all pet owners!  They are hosting their 1st Annual Dog Days of Summer Pet Photo Contest! To enter, just bring your favorite pet pictures to the Trackside Cafe.  Hurry, the contest ends on 8/15!  They will display your photo for all to admire in the lobby!  I stopped by there today and there were some really cute dog and cat photos!  I honestly don't know how they'll pick second prize, because you know, my JJ will win first prize ... paws down!! Here's my entry:   Voting will take place August 16th to August 31st with the winner in each category to be announced on September 3rd (my 50th birthday... just to see if you have kept on reading!!).  Not sure what the prizes are, but I know my little baby i...

Last night, the girls and I went into West Chester for  Swinging Thursday.  This happens the first Thursday of the month, during the summer, and the borough blocks off 2 blocks and there is music, dancing, food, stuff for the children and a good time for all who attend.  Last night was no exception and we tapped our feet to the beat of the salsa band.  Music was provided by Jimmy Jorge and the Latin Express, and the World music of Siora! These two little guys really got into it.  My girl Melissa Ford and her dance partner from Salsa dance class had a good time as well! My apologies for the quality of the pictures, I only had my cell phone.  Note to self.... take your camera next time! The fun goes from 6:30 to 9:00 PM.  You can eat at any of the wonderful local restaurants, or you can g...

Mill Creek is a lovely, small neighborhood conveniently located off of Boot Road, between Paoli Pike and Greenhill, in East Goshen Township, Chester County.  Mill Creek is walking distance to the Hershey's Mill Shopping center, where you can go food-shopping, get your hair done, get a hoagie at Subway, a wonderful pasta dish at Vano's (wonderful pizza too), or pick up a prescription at either the Genuardi's pharmacy or Rite Aide!  Genuadi's, my favorite food store, has everything from fresh meat and seafood to a wonderful deli.  Since I like the European style of shopping for what you feel like that day, I am over there almost everyday! I have had several listings in Mill Creek over the years.  All homes are 4 or more bedrooms, the houses range in size from about 2600 square feet up to ...

My wife Karen and I live and sell Real Estate for RE/MAX Main Line in West Chester, Pennsylvania. Beautiful Chester County, known for its rolling hills, small communities and  plenty of open space. A great place to raise a Family as we are doing. I tell our two sons to thank God everyday for allowing them to live in our great Country and this wonderful area. There are so many things to do and places to see in the West Chester area. Downtown West Chester has enough restaurants that you could eat in a different eatery eveyday for the next two months. Townships in the area all have their special parks for people to gather and offer all sorts of entertainment and cultural attractions. Sports are big in our area and you see all the athletic fields busy year round with young people pursuing t...

East Goshen is a lovely township.  I am proud to not only work in East Goshen, but also feel privileged to live in such a beautiful place.  We've had a lot of rain here lately, but the other day, we had one of the most spectacular rainbows I have ever seen.  If you have been thinking of moving to Chester County and want to know more about townships like East Goshen, contact me!  I'd love to show you around... maybe we'll find the house at the end of the rainbow! West Chester PA is one of the greatest places to live in the US. The energy of the town will draw you in and capture your heart. One of my favorite things is strolling the streets of Downtown West Chester. Plus, you have 55 awards winning restaurants to select from. Whether you're looking for the ultimate coffee drink or micro-brew, light lunch or haute cuisine, you will find something for every taste and budget. Friendly summer nights are exceptionally pleasant as dining moves to the sidewalks. Many restaurants offer entertainment. Friends meet and people relax in the cosmopolitan atmosphere that downtown West Chester offers.. Where do you like to go in West Chester?
