Today my walking partner and I walked on a park path that does not have much tree cover.We did this because there was a lot of cloud cover when we started out and it is one of our favorite places to walk.We ended up having to get our umbrellas out of our cars since it became clear the drizzle that started was not going to let up anytime soon.But I must say the rain was enjoyable.Walking anywhere in the summertime here in Delaware County can be rather hard with all the humidity and the high temps. And with no cloud cover it can be really grueling.On those dog days of summer, we seek out trails that have a lot of tree cover.So today’s walk with cloud cover, a slight breeze and a continuous gentle shower was a real treat for me. We live not too far from the Delaware River, here in Delaware County PA, which is a large tributary that flows into the Delaware Bay and then into the Atlantic Ocean.The Delaware River is an active river for commerce with ports along its shores in the states of Delaware, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.The river has a life of its own. Big ships traverse this river at its widest and deepest points, and recreational boating happens at its northern more narrow points.We usually see big ships on the water when we drive south on Route 95. Just came back from a meeting with Ridley Township commissioners, and developer for the redevelopment of the Penn Hills apartment complex.  The meeting was held at the Knights of Columbus.  The audience was packed with residents who had lots of questions for both the township officials and the developer.  It looks like the project will entail 15 of the apartment buildings owned by Pennrose Developers.  Jacob Fisher was the spokesperson for the company and brought the plans for the new project.  It would entail the demo of 120 units and replace them with 45 units.  The long term plan would be for the developer to acquire the remaining 44 buildings and redevelope those also.  I think this project would help property values increase in the surrounding neighborhood.  The apartment complex h... 02/03/2010
