  The national news this morning had more good news for our industry. They reported that the National Association of Realtors reported yesterday its seasonally adjusted index of sales contracts signed in April increased by 6.7% which far exceeding analysts forecasts. Its the biggest monthly jump since October 2001, and pending sales rose 9.2 percent. They indicated rates remaining low and the $8,000 tax credit is what continues to be the motivator and may signal the slump is ending. A new lodge project in Arrowhead Lake is under way. The current lodge is 40 plus years old and was involved in a storm. The storm caused structural damage and has been closed for 6 plus years. They looked into repairing the structure 6 plus years ago and was cost prohibitive.  An Ad Hoc Lodge Committee was created this past October 2008 to look at replacing the structure. Sub committees were also created in October and consist of Communications, Usage, Demolition, Architect, and Client Representative. One of my first jobs in the communications subcommittee was to take pictures and video. I am SCBA trained and another member of Arrowhead is Hazmat trained went into the lodge at the direction of the BOD and GM. Here is Info that was passed on by my mortgage guy about last weeks crash.   A free fall indeed was the case last Wednesday, as Bonds had their worst one-day performance since last October, losing an astounding 206bp. So what caused this free fall...and what helped Bonds and home loan rates rally back and improve later in the week? Here's what you need to know. The main culprit for Wednesday's sell off was supply. The Treasury auctions and the increased number of refinance transactions closing have added hundreds of Billions of dollars of new Bond supply to the market. Economics 101 tells us that anytime supply vastly exceeds demand, prices will move lower, and that's exactly what we saw last week...and as Bond prices move lower, home loan rates move higher. This past Saturday Arrowhead Lake had one of its two annual yard sales (Memorial Day and Labor Day weekend). Also this Saturday was the first time they had the yard sale all weekend, normally they just have it on Saturday. you pay $5.00, they give you a blue Arrowhead balloon you tie it in front of your house and you are official. The rain kept the on-lookers and bargain shoppers down to a minimum. WE sold a golf cart and a marine battery so we did ok. In case anyone hasn't heard Arrowhead Lakes Community, after being instructed by the Department of Environmental Protection, has issued a halt on all central sewer hookups in the community until permitting from previous sewer hookups and the running of the main sewer lines have come into proper compliance. Apparently all the ducks were not in order when this whole sewer project got started some 7 -8 years ago. This will not affect anyone who already has permitting in place to build but no future permits will be given to build with connection to central sewer until further notice. After speaking to interim general manager, Charlie Hozempa, he felt that given what is involved with the entire process it will probably a good year before anyone can start to hook up once again.
