Man times throughout the year I get calls from people from all over the United States looking to buy in Gettysburg Borough. We'd Like to Remodel an old Farmhouse Often times here in Gettysburg Pa, I have people call and want to see old farmhouses, Gettysburg Pa has many, many old farmhouses covering it's rolling hills countryside. It has become very popular for history buffs as well as country living folks to purchase an old farmhouse and make it thier charming country home. Note the two front doors While these homes are not in a specific neighborhood it is something that clients want that is very specific to the Gettysburg, Adams County Pa area. When these folks call and want to set up showings they make it very clear that they are not interested in anything built after say 1910, for some reason that seems to be the cut off year. Usually these farmhouses come with anywhere from 2 to 10 acres of land, most o...

Maryland developer buys the Gettysburg Country Club. Gettysburgians have been anxiously awaiting a verdict on the fate of the Gettysburg Country Club.  The once popular Country club received a face lift in 2007 that would ultimately result in it's demise.  The face lift created a financial burden that was beyond the possible income capacity of the club.  Falling memberships and failed outside expected income resulted in a Susquehanna bank foreclosure in 2008.  Since then the club has sat idle.  The military park worries that the former Country club will fall into the hands of a developer.  In fact the park service put this land on a list of a high priority to protect the national military park.  The Gettysburg Country Club went to Sheriff auction at a price of 2.79 million but didn't ge...

Obviously last night was St. Patricks Day and there is no better place in Gettysburg than Gary Owen Irish Pub.  There is another Irish bar across town, but Gary Owens is hard to beat.  The bar features fantastic authentic Irish decor, a great selection of beer as your would expect from an Irish pub.  Gary Owen recently turned into a non smoking establishment which allows them to serve more food.  The authentic Irish fare is fantastic and they make a mean hamburger as well.  Last night they opened an 2nd floor bar.  The atmosphere on the 2nd floor is more of a relaxed whiskey bar atmosphere and according to the owner is slated to be open most weekends allowing Gary Owen Irish Pub the ability to serve more patrons.  I'll edit this post with some pictures.  Unfortunately I didn't have my c...

Devils Den Gettysburg National Military ParkNo it is not the moon, although it could be a set of some startrek episode. You know the original, something folks in my age group (that would be old) remembers. Devils Den was held by both the Union and Confederate armies during the 3 day battle of Gettysburg on July 1st, 2nd, & 3rd of 1863. Eventually the Devils Den area came into solid Confederate control and was used extensivley by Confederate sharpshooters. From the protection and prime vantage point the boulders provided, Confederate sharpshooters had a field day harrassing Union troops on Little Round Top. The picture below is a famous picture taken by Civil War photographers Alexander Gardner and Timothy O'Sullivan. The photographers found the body and moved it to where they photograph...
