Heron Go Bragh! In West Linn Oregon Since the unvailing of the new Steel Heron last October at Fields Bridge Park in West Linn, I've noticed that folks have taken to "stylin" him up for the holidays. It does put a smile to my face when I pass this new addition to West Linn's public art project noting the new St. Patrick's Day necklace that's been strung over the green beads left from Mardi Gras. The steel Heron was created out of mostly recycled materials such as BBQ grills and rebar by sculpter Ben Dye and is the first of hopefully many public art projects that's been funded through the city's Percent-For-Art-Policy. This program is sponsored by the Clackamas County Art Alliance and to me is just a great way to add beauty to the City Of West Linn.. Keep em coming!

The West Linn Public Library is honestly one of my favorite places to visit and is centrally located at 1595 Burns St. West Linn, OR 97068.  The newly remodeled building boasts sleek architectural designs, cool metal artwork, and also hosts a number of ever revolving artists who display their work for weeks at a time.  The West Linn Public Library is definitely a rolling stone that gathers no moss. But let’s talk about what else they have from less of a building design standpoint and consider what they have for inventory.   The West Linn Public Library has an enormous selection of books including large print books for people with impaired vision.  They have their very own book store and kids play area.  They have computers all over the place for personal use.  You can check out CD’s, DV...

Life In West Linn Oregon|More Police Blog Stuff   Every week I enjoy receiving my copy of the West Linn Tidings local paper where you get to read the police blog and the calls they go out for in West Linn. With about 26,000 people living in West Linn, there is garanteed to be some kind of antics or problems, but for the most part the police blog reads more small town antics then anything. If we were Mayberry, It would read " Otis came in and locked himself up again".   So,here are my top five faves from this weeks police blog from last week:   1. 2/19/13 @ 3:27 PM:  "A fired real estate agent allegedly broke into a home in the 4200 block of Riverview Drive in order to retrieve his items" Hmm..doesn't sound like this one went well if the agent felt that he couldn't communicate with the s...

Fields Bridge Park in West Linn Fields Bridge Park in West Linn was recently constructed in 2006 and it offers a little something for everybody.  It is conveniently located at 821 Willamette Falls Drive in West Linn in the little town of Willamette.  Fields Bridge Park in West Linn is located just off of I-205 at the 10th St. exit. This waterfront park is surrounded by the Tualatin River and features the following amenities: baseball & soccer fields, basketball courts, play structures, walking paths, a wooden fishing pier, community gardens, lots of parking, and much more.  There are so few parks around these days that are easily assessable, are also in this good of condition, and located right on the river.  This is a particularly beautiful stretch of the river with small riffles and r...

Mary S. Young Park in West Linn Mary S. Young Park in West Linn is conveniently located at 19900 Willamette Dr. (Hwy 43) West Linn, OR 97068.  This park is known for its peacefulness and tranquility through its large, natural, forested setting.  Being another Oregon waterfront park along the Willamette River, this park brings so much more to the table with its river access.  Just some of the alluring features of Mary S. Young Park in West Linn are: hiking, bird and wildlife watching, fishing, picnicking, viewing native plants, river access, unleashed dog areas, BBQ, and sports fields.  With about 128 forested acres and approximately 8 miles of forested trails, people from all over stop in for a break from the city life to feel like they are in the middle of a deep forest far away.  For ...

My Neighborhood West Linn Pileated Woodpecker Calling! I've gone to the birds and love it! I get lots of wildlife in my West Linn, Oregon backyard, but my favorite so far is when the pileated woodpecker comes around. I always know when he...or she is in my yard by their unique call. When I first heard this call, It reminded me of being in the tropics for some reason. I took a quick video of one of the visits to my yard and you can see him hearing a distant call from another pileated woodpecker and responding. As one of the largest birds to be seen in our area, I also love when they come to my suet feeder. Who knew bird watching could be not only fun, but relaxing! You can do some great birdwatching from your own West Linn Home as well! Click the link below to start your search! West Lin...

West Linn's Holiday Parade Down Historic Willamette Main Street 2012 (Video) One of the many reasons I love living in West Linn is being in close proximity to the Historic Willamette Main Street District. This past Saturday, it was a full day of festivities starting with the Ugly Sweater Dash & West Linn Holiday Parade to the Historic Willamette's 2nd Annual Progressive Holiday Crawl and ending up with the tree lighting and carraige rides at the Historic Willamette General Store. Historic Willamette has a nice small town feel to it...yet is about 25 minutes to downtown Portland. The day of the parade turned out to be a perfect dry Portland day! Folks came out to support their community and enjoy all the fun and it looked like everyone was having much fun! Life in West Linn is good! Check...

Historic Willamette's Second Annual Progressive Holiday Crawl Saturday December 8th 2012! One of the reasons why I love living in West Linn is that it's just minutes from Historic Willamette's Main Street where I enjoy having some great local shops and well as restaurants and businesses. Throughout the year there are many happenings here and this coming weekend you can enjoy Historic Willamette's Second Annual Progressive Crawl. What's a crawl you ask? Well, after you have fun watching West Linn's Ugly Sweater Dash and the Annual Holiday Parade, you take your card that you purchased at anyone of the participating merchants  for $25 and crawl..or ok...you can walk to each one where you'll get what's written on the card. For example, you head into BJ Willy's for your cheese fondue, go nex...

West Linn Real Estate|How Much Home Can You Buy For $350,000 In West Linn, Oregon I love West Linn, Oregon and apparently lots of others do too since it was ranked #69 best places to live in the Money Magazine in 2011. For those wanting to live in this wonderful city, you'll find that there just might not be that many homes to choose from right now with our inventory in this price range sitting around 3.7 months. With the average sales price of $371,000, buying a home under $350,000 in West Linn is do-able! Here are two pie charts which I've broken down the detached homes as well as Condo and townhomes available in this price range which show you the break down of the straight  sales, bank owned/REO and short sale homes. West Linn Arts Festival September 8th & 9th 2012 at Willamette Park One of the reasons why I love living in West Linn, Oregon is that there is always something going on, especially in the Historic Willamette neighborhood. This weekend is the West Linn Arts Festival in Willamette Park. This juried arts show has lots of really great mix of fine art, textiles, garden art and more. Last year I snagged myself a creamer and sugar bowl from a ceramic artist. I was VERY tempted to buy a gate made out of old recycled tools, but I really had no place for it....but man, I am a sucker for really great garden art. The weather promises to be nice, so get out in the sunshine, peruse the many booths and pick up a few things that you just won't be able to resist! Festival Hours: Saturday 9/7/12 from 10...

It is that time of year again. Time for the Weasels Dancing in the Park, the one day fundraisers for the Oregon Ferret Shelter, a no kill animal shelter in Oregon City. One thing I believe in is giving back to the community and my way of doing that is giving to no kill animal shelters. I think it helps people adopt great pets that others couldn’t handle or keep for some other reason. Today at Hammerle Park in West Linn we are having yet another fun event to support the Oregon Ferret Shelter. Weasels Dancing in the Park has been something I have been involved with since 1998. If you are interested in knowing more about ferrets or even are thinking of owning one, heck if you just want to see some ferrets goofing off, then I suggest you come to Hammerle Park and watch these goofy little an...

West Linn's 2012 NW Natural Street of Dreams   Last week, a couple of my office mates at Premiere Property Group and I joined lots of others for REALTOR® Day at the 2012 NW Natural Street of Dreams. Since this one is in my home town of West Linn and less than a mile from my home, it was a treat of sorts.  Sending lots of us agents over in VIP style was the Better Homes and Gardens office right in West Linn working with Chicago Title. They hosted a very tasty spread of munchies to fortify us before taking on the monumental job of browsing gorgeous dream homes. It was nice to be the passenger in the car for a change!   There were seven homes in all built on a previous boutique vineyard on Salamo Road now called The Vineyard ranging in price from $985,000 to $1,300,000. Each one has all the...

What Do West Linn, Walmart And The Star Magazine Have In Common? C'mon..admit it, you like perusing those "Star" magazines at the checkout counter right? I know I secretly (ok..maybe not so secretly now) like to see those "real" pictures that show a cellulite pocked thigh on a movie star. I also like to shop in Walmart when I'm around one..which I have a feeling that many also love to do..but won't admit to it. I guess wearing a blouse with a Kathy Lee tag is just..well..just so Walmarty. Well, When Walmart first announced that they were going to be opening a new store in West Linn, Oregon there were many people that weren't too happy about this. Walmart in West Linn!!..there goes the neighborhood! This would compete with local boutique, and local Mom & Pop shops..not good. So it seems ...

The West Linn Farmer's Market Is Back! June 20th-September 19th 2012 Last Wednesday, West Linn kicked off their Farmer's Market in style with it's Summer Solstice Celebration. Those that came enjoyed a wonderful sun filled evening (yes!) and while perusing the vendors booths mingled among pirates and parrots while listening to live entertainment. The kids were entertained by the Dragon Puppet Theatre as well as the Gameshire area and jumping castle. We haven't had the best summer so far weather wise but today's forcast is showing sunny and 79(whooee)...a perfect evening for once again supporting your local farmer's market by coming down to the Historic Willamette District. Although many of the festivities of last weeks kick off like the Pirates and Parrots, Gameshire and the high energy...

West Linn Summer Solstice Celebration & Farmer's Market June 20th, 2012 From 5PM-8PM Shiver me timbers Mateys! It's that time of year when the West Linn's Farmer's Market is scheduled to open again in Historic Downtown Mainstreet.  Kicking off this event will be the second go around for the pirate themed Summer Solstice Celebration which was a huge success last year! I for one am very happy summer is finally here! This fun West Linn event will have lots of the same activites as last year with the Dragon Puppet Theatre, the Hay Castle where kids can get some swashbucking activity in of their own, sidewalk shopping, great selection of food and live music as well as of course the many vendors and artisans in the Farmers Market. The Pirates and their parrots will once again be strolling and...
