Very few homes sold last month in Scio, but a handful did sell in the 1-5 acre catagory. Five homes with 1-5 acres sold, in an average of 44 days.  They sold for near full price, 99.86% of the asking price.  Once the data is out for the entire month of March, we will get a glimpse of the affect of the virus on the real estate market, thus far.    As of today, there are currently 5 homes for sale in Scio, you can see them on our site.

How was the real estate market for Scio in January? It was pretty quiet, only 2 properties on acreage sold.  But, they did sell for asking price or higher.  Two homes also sold in town, but they took longer to sell than the average for 2019.  The slow down is pretty typical for the time of year, but also due to the low inventory we are seeing all across the valley. To see the full infograph of the Scio Oregon Real Estate Update for January 2020, click the link.

This post is about my real estate.  LOL!  Over the last few years, I have really gotten into flowers, trying to grow a green thumb.  We have been in our current home about 3 1/2 years.  The first year was spent removing rotten trees and bushes from the yard, doing some rearranging of things, plus planting a few flowers.  OHHHHH, let's not forget pulling weeds.   Every year I have added flowers and bushes.  Alot of flowers.  So as we head out of winter and in to Spring (almost) I love to walk around the yard in the morning and discover what new flower is blooming.  It's almost a surprise, as some of these I haven't seen for 10 months or so. But, it is so rewarding to see these beautiful signs of Spring knowing I spent some time and energy planting it last year.  Come, take a tour with me...

One of the biggest things stopping people from participating in the American Dream today is the ability to come up with the down payment. While talk of a credit crunch keeps some buyers sidelined because of credit problems, many others with good credit are able to get the best deals in years including programs with no down payment! The program leading the way in no down payment requirements (for non veterans) is the USDA Rural Development loan. This loan is available right now for Scio and Sweet Home, and who better to show you homes in these communities than Leslie Stewart with Prudential Real Estate Professionals in Stayton. To qualify for the program (it is income limited), a family of four cannot have a total household income of more than $70,750 per year. That is a pretty liberal g...

Scio Veterans Memorial, Scio Oregon Honoring Veterans – Past, Present and Future The Scio Veteran’s Memorial is located on at the intersection of Main Street and Highway 226.  It was rebuilt  over the footprint of the original Memorial established twenty five years earlier.   In 1983, the founding father of the Memorial, placed a cannon and a flag pole at this location and dedicated it as a war memorial  honoring veterans.  In an effort to build on the original idea, the City of Scio and its citizens have expanded the Memorial into a magnificent display to honor those who have honorably served in our countries Armed Services.  The Re-dedication of this memorial was held appropriately on July 4, 2008.  The colors were proudly presented by the American Legion Post 51 Honor Guard.
