We finally made it to the Sunrise Café & Catering at 130 E. Main Street in Downtown Medford tonight, getting to this popular lunchtime destination – but for dinner. This family owned business run by brother and sister, Ed Chun and Carol Hendricks was worth the wait. Having experienced the delectable Kalbi Tri Tip Special and a sampler platter, with some of the most tender, flavorful meats we’ve tasted (pulled pork, teriyaki beef AND chicken - YUM!), we’ll be back to see the friendly, personable Ed and Carol again very soon. Dinner for two with drinks came to just over $25.00, which doesn’t put too big a dent in our wallet during these challenging economic times, and with leftovers from the sampler platter, one of us will get a lunch out of it, too (sweet dreams, sweetheart - MIDNIGHT ...

Here comes one of our favorite local Springtime events here in the Rogue Valley! It's Pear Blossom Parade and Run time! Time to park the car and hike the few blocks over to our favorite spot on Central Avenue to see the parade, than walk over to Alba Park to see what we can find at the booths at the street fair. It's a great way to run in to familiar faces and have a fun time. And this year, we get to just enjoy it, not having the drop off and pickup duties we've had in years past with children in the parade. Look for me, the one who is parked in the best viewing spot with no intention of getting up for the 2 1/2 hours the parade will run. We have a favorite restaurant in Downtown Medford where we know we will experience some unique and amazing flavors not only in their delicious Tapas, but in their drinks. Have you been to Element's Tapas Bar & Lounge in Downtown Medford? We have, frequently, and are headed back that way Monday February 9th to enjoy their Paella Party! This will be the first Element's Paella Party we've attended, and we're really looking forward to it. We're a little troubled, though... which of our favorite Southern Oregon wines will we bring with us? See you out there! Karen Cooper - OR/CA Mortgage Consultant - www.Quality4Loans.com

It's that time again, time for a favorite winter event, the annual Medford Winter Light Festival that is held in Vogel Plaza in Downtown Medford Oregon. Last night's crowd was awed by the beautiful tree, wonderful music provided by the North Medford High School Band and South Medford High School Choir. It was a beautiful, clear, cold night for this event that included music, booths and the arrival of Santa himself. A special treat for this year's event was the fake snow falling on Vogel Plaza. But one of our favorite things about going to events like the Medford Winter Light Festival is bumping in to friends and collegues also out enjoying the spirit of the season. See you out there! This family owned and operated wine shoppe and bar located next to the Craterian Ginger Rogers Theater in Downtown Medford is just the place to go for Oregon wines, appetizers and friendly service. It is a favorite stop of mine when meeting friends after work or on my way to or from a performance at the theater. Cork's has a winemaker/vintner night every first Wednesday and blind tasting every Third Friday coinciding with the Downtown Medford Third Friday Art Walk. Come on down to Corksat 235 Theater Alley just off Central and Main in Downtown Medford. You'll be glad you did! See you out there! Karen Cooper - OR/CA Mortgage Consultant - www.Quality4Loans.com

You'll find many locals winding down after work with friends or enjoying a great steak at Porter's, a voted a 2006 Reader's Choice favorite in the Mail Tribune for several categories. This historic train station is a great place to dine, enjoy cocktails, even hold small company celebrations as we have done. And, as I discovered last year, it is one of the few restaurants located in Downtown Medford that are open on Mondays! See you out there! A springtime afternoon in downtown Medford found me and my husband at Elements Tapas Bar & Lounge, hungry but indecisive on what we wanted to have for dinner. We've been to Elements several times since our first visit to this fabulous place in early 2007, when we were meeting friends Downtown or going to a performance at the Ginger Rogers Craterian Theater. Arriving here just after they opened on Saturday, we really had a chance to savor and enjoy not only the incredible selections Elements has, but the wonderful ambiance they have to offer, too. Gazing up at their starry night ceiling, the water fountain, or out at the unusual snow flurries we experienced that day, the time just flew by, and I'll bet they thought we had taken up permanent residence in our very comfortable booth. ...
