Friday's Fotos-Wild Elk Herd in Birkenfeld Oregon!There is a great variety of wildlife in Oregon. This is actually a video, as I happened to be in the right place at the right time.A mid-morning on February 24, 2016, this Roosevelt Elk herd was in a pasture as I drove by on Highway 202, just outside Birkenfeld Oregon.A nice-sized group. And they jump the fences pretty easily, too! There are herds that stay at the Jewell Elk Reserve in the winter and early spring months every year,  but this herd is not part of them, and they're much more skittish! You can go to the Jewell Elk Reserve and get on a buckboard and go feed them, while getting up-close-and-personal. I'm happy just to pull alongside the highway and shoot some video while they stop to look at me.  02/18/2016

My Year in Pictures 2015I've never gone back and reviewed an entire year of my own blogging through my photographic eye, so thanks, to Dick Greenberg  and his eye-opening post I decided to look at my world through the eye of the camera. January gave me the chance to see things in a new light.(A walk I took to the Fishhawk Lake community lodge and God said hi). In February it was a rainbow over a new listing of mine at Fishhawk Lake.(A lucky moment of being in the right place at the right time). March meant Breaking out the Boat! Fishhawk Lake Real Estate-Worried about Losing Power?Out in the remote area of Fishhawk Lake, power outages happen. That's just the way it goes with storms, downed trees, old equipment that hasn't been updated by West Oregon Electric Cooperative, our power source--it happens more often than in other parts of the coastal range of Oregon and urban areas. What to do? Have a back-up source of power! Get yourself a propane generator. Some birds of the Pacific Northwest!I've been having a heckuva good time watching, feeding and being entertained by my little feathered friends who regularly feed at my creekfront door! Some of my photos have been hard to take, because I'm shooting through a somewhat dirty sliding glass door, so forgive me if they're not always really sharp. Here are some that I've identified that may not be found in your area. This is the Varied Thrush. They don't always get along with larger birds, but the smaller ones don't seem to mind. This is the Evening Grosbeak. Winter Decorating On Golden RanchChristmas is over, but the joy continues, just in a different manner. I hadn't shared any interior holiday photos, as it's our first Christmas On Golden Ranch, and we didn't go hog wild. We had just moved in October 28th, had Thanksgiving and barely decorated the ranch before we kicked into holiday decorating and changed some of it! I took a couple of post-Christmas-weekend-now- it's-snowing photos.                                                            Wildlife and nature are our general theme.    But a girl's gotta have sparkle!                  Pillows are always easy.
