Our local soccer house league started on Monday with a resounding "thud" as thunderstorms and heavy rain washed out the initial practice.  My son's Coach, Tracy, called an impromptu practice last night at a soccer field in Tottenham to meet and familiarize herself with her new team.  Those of us that could make it found the evening cool (seasonally COLD) and damp.  Alec and Iarrived at 6:45 pm, he was full of energy ready to start his third year.  As a seasoned parent, I come prepared, bringing water, lawn chairs, bug spray and an assorted pack of supplies.  The parents of one of the boys who were new to the league had arrived just after I did.  I noticed they did not bring lawn chairs and offered them chairs.  I walked back to my car and brought two lawn chairs for them.  They seemed a... 05/25/2011

Wednesday May 18th started out like most days in the last week, gray sky and raining... It was promising to be a busy day and I had to get started early.  I decided to stop at Tim Horton's in Tottenham and get breakfast at the drive-thru.  I wanted the Sausage Biscuit, but opted for the healthier Homestyle Oatmeal and milk (my first good choice of the day ;-) I drove up to the window to pay and asked what was the bill for the Pick up truck behind me, and was told $5.72.  I told the lady to add it to mine and received my change, got my breakfast to go and headed off to my office for breakfast. I am not sure what the reaction was from the person in the truck behind me was, I hope my action put a smile on their face... but my little act of generosity had the effect of picking me up on what... 05/18/2011

The various soccer leagues of New Tecumseth had a tournament at Mel Mitchell Sports Field in Beeton.  It housed many soccer fields and one Football field and today was packed full of local soccer players. It was an absolutely wonderful day to be outside and the day started at 9:00 am sharp. My son, Alec played in the Under Six Mixed League sponsored by the Tottenham Dairy Queen.   Here are some pictures of some of the other leagues also playing today... I was very impressed by the coaches and all the volunteers who gave of their expertise and their time and of the results witnessed.  My son played in a league last year, his first, but really did not develop. Just came back from a celebration at a local Tottenham Church, Hillside Community Church. We were first introduced to ministries at this local church by a friend of mine whose son participated in "BG Club" on Friday evenings during the school year.  The idea intrigued and I told my wife about it.  We sent Alec, then 5, to the club in early April and the rest is history.  He loved it.  It was good wholesome fun and Alec enjoyed the Bible based life lessons he was learning in an activity based environment featuring movies, stories, music and games. About 3 hours have passed, and I think I am finally warming up... We were out early this morning putting on the final touches on our float for the parade.  It really was not that cold, but perhaps I could have dressed more weather appropriate.  Any guesses on which one is my son? I left my wife and son on the float and headed for a place on the route where I could take some pictures. Was taking pictures of most of the floats when my camera started warning me that the battery was low.  Perhaps I should have charged it fully last night.  Live and learn, c'est la vie.   Luckily my Blackberry had some juice left in it ... I took the plunge finally. Realtors are golfers. Realty companies have charity golf tournaments. If you want work with Realtors, you should golf. I usually sponsor a hole or donate a home staging consultation for the silent auction as I don't play golf. But this time it was going to be different. I decided that I was going to play golf and take my mortgage broker, Nick Lecuyer from Dominion Lending, with me for moral support and networking reasons. Now you may think that this was either a stroke of brillance (no pun intended) or complete lunacy on my part. You see, I am what they call athletically challenged.
