One of the Ottawa Real Estate Questions I often get asked is whether somebody should buy out in the country or closer to the city ? Of course you may say that the answer to one of these seriously important Ottawa Real Estate Questions is that "it depends", yes, but many people are wanting a calmer lifestyle to deal with everyday stresses and so the option of country living PRIOR to retirement is often an option. In Ottawa East, the country areas of Cumberland and Rockland are my personal favourites, and if you can arrange your transportation to get to work, well, what are you waiting for ? Looking to beautify your home or neighourhood? The City of Ottawa has a Trees, Reforestation and Environmental Enhancement (TREE) Program a tree planting program that you can take advantage of. Started in 2007, the City hopes to plant 100,000 trees by 2010. To reach the City’s goal, Ottawa residents are eligible to register for a tree to plant on their property, which will be delivered right to your door at no cost. As this is the last year of the TREE program, residents may be eligible to receive a second tree if they already received one in the past. Trees come delivered in a pot, with instructions, compost and mulch. See this link to find out what kinds of tree species are available. The City of Ottawa is looking to recruit volunteers for this program. Volunteers can plant trees, fi...

This is a fantastic story that I must share with you, and I couldn't believe it when I heard it from my taxi driver on Sept 16th. I was sharing with him my experience of selling my own home. And it reminded me of a mentor of mine, who said every realtor should have to sell his/her own home every 5 years just to experience the process and have empathy for our own clients. He was only half kidding, but it truly was an emotional experience having lived in this (my first) home for 7+ years. As I relayed this story to my driver, he mentioned he didn't think it was such a big deal, having purchased his home privately not so long ago. A few friendly questions later, he revealed to me that they got caught up in the excitement, and purchased the home pretty quickly. "Sometimes you can save money...

Financing Assistance is just another service that I provide to all my clients. This is your home, and it's kind of a big deal. Know how and where to get a mortgage (banks are just one source), and what financial incentives and assistance is available to you. ie. tax credits, rebates, RRSP. What sort of costs you can expect at closing? It's stuff that can put money in your pocket and is helpful before you start looking for your home.

First off... Couch surfing is when you share your couch with visitors coming to your city. Visit CouchSurfing.org to sign up or learn more about this non for profit organization. This website allows travellers to connect with locals giving travellers access to a couch for a night and sometimes the local will show them their city for free. This is a great way to learn a new culture and have lots of fun meeting new people when traveling. Just for the fun of it I checked how many couches we're available in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada and I found more than 1000 couches. So come down to my beautiful City, Ottawa and try this new travelling style.

Let's face it Ottawa, Ontario, Canada is full of government workers and people that work in the downtown core. Now keeping this in mind : Where should one buy a home in Ottawa if they rely on Bus Transportation (OC Transpo) for their Monday to Friday commute to work? Here's how long it would take you to go from your home in Ottawa to your work downtown for 8 o'clock on a Monday morning. If your home is in Avalon / Notting Gate / Fallingbrook (Corner of Innes Rd. and Tenth Line Rd.) in Orleans it would take you 47 minutes. If your home is in Fallowfield (Corner of Fallowfield Rd. and Richmond Rd) the commute would take you 39 minutes If your home is in Greenboro (Corner of Hunt Club Rd. and Bank St.) it would take you 29 minutes. One of the Ottawa Real Estate Questions I often ponder myself is the concept of "the moment of the madness"That moment when a Buyer makes an offer on a Property out of sheer emotional desire and is not even sure if they are doing the right thing but they do it anyway because it just feels RIGHT.Then the rational mind kicks in, and a second guessing of oneself and a form of Buyer's Remorse. So in answer to one of these big Ottawa Real Estate Questions, always remember that you would not have put yourself into that "Moment of Madness" position, if you had not carefully considered your reasons for doing so before hand.A lot of thinking got you to the point of drafting that offer. So GO MAD UNASHAMEDLY.Put pen to paper, and live with the smile and satisfaction that comes with Home Ownership l...

One of the Ottawa Real Estate Questions I always get asked by people from out of town, is "where are the nature walks and reserves in Ottawa?" Well Ottawa has such a huge selection from Gatineau Park famous for the great outdoors in both summer and Winter, to my personal favourite, the Ottawa River that runs parallel to the Rockcliff Parkway between Orleans and Downtown Ottawa. This morning I went on my weekly 17 km run along the gravel path that goes right along the river's edge, through the magnificent trees changing from green to the oranges and the reds of the Fall- it was magical.Like a fairy tale book. For these and other Ottawa Real Estate Questions please contact me through my website at http:OttawaRealEstateQuestions.com

XTRA XTRA! For those of you out there house hunting and not up to date with the Ottawa real estate market, i'd like to announce that we are in a SELLERS MARKET! By definition, a Sellers market is a market which has more buyers than sellers. Higher listing prices result from this excess of demand over supply. I was asked by a few clients, who are looking to buy a home in Orleans, WHY there are so FEW homes for sale right now in Ottawa.  There is no 1 answer to that question and several other Realtors in Ottawa probably have their own thoughts - however I believe that the lowered interest rates are taking a tole on our sellers.  Since there has been such a drop in interest rates this year, banks have been utilising the IRD (interest rate differencial) instead of just the usual 3 months in...

One of the Ottawa Real Estate Questions we often get asked, is "where are the best restaurants to eat in Ottawa?" Well today my husband and I ate at Canal Ritz on the Rideau Canal, a magnificent Italian Restaurant with views to die for on the Canal, and food worth relishing. The hostess "Yvette" co-owner of the restaurant was fabulous. We sat on the sun-filled glass encased patio and their mussels starter was great, my husband had a grilled Pork Tenderloin with Greenpepper sauce and I had aTeriyaki Chicken Salad. For these and Other Ottawa Real Estate Questions please contact me at my website at http://OttawaRealEstateQuestions.com

One of the frequent Ottawa Real Estate Questions I always ask myself is "how can I do better in business ?" As such I continue to educate myself by attending seminars, conferences ,training and the like.Keller Williams Ottawa Realty where I work puts on great training for their agents, but I also like to attend seminars by outside speakers like I attended today, The TRUMP IN OTTAWA" conference. There were a series of great speakers there ,Terry Matthews, Brett Wilson and Donald Trump himself were my personal favourites of the day and of all the Ottawa Real Estate Questions I consistently  ask myself as to how to succeed in business and in life, these were some of the answers that I found collectively across these great titans of business: Terry Mathews said that " PERSISTENCE is the most...

One of the Ottawa Real Estate Questions I think most thought about by most Buyers and Sellers , is this: "Am I making the right decision?"Anthony Robbins says that "it is in the moments of your decisions that your destiny is shaped". I think the Ottawa Real Estate Questions decisions revolve around the following commonly pondered over questions: "Should I accept this offer and sell my house , or should I hold out for a better offer?" Answer...........Your first offer is usually your Best Offer. So if you are a serious Seller and it is a fairly good offer, ........take it.Spare yourself the aggravation and regret that comes with passing up a good offer and staying on the market longer, and having additional mortgage holding costs and rather spare asking yourself one of these Ottawa Real E...

The condominium property class includes any property regardless of style (ie: detached, semi-detached, appartment, etc.) which is registered as a condominium, as well as properties which are co-operatives, life leases and timeshares. The residential property class includes all other residential properties."August was another solid month for home sales in Ottawa.
