I got a phone call yesterday telling me that Hoover (my Westie) and I had won a basket of dog goods from a draw at the groomer's shop.  Having a Westie means that you get to know your dog's groomer very well.  Chantal Raby has been grooming my dogs for the past several years and she is wonderful. Hoover is so relaxed with her that he falls asleep during the process.  That alone is a high recommendation.  I think you can tell from the photo that Chantal also is good with Airedales. They almost look stupid happy.   Chantal owns DAWN OF A NEW DAY.  She and the other groomers do amazing work on both cats and dogs. The shop is very large so there is space for dogs to stroll around, drying areas an big wash tubs.   The last time I took Hoover in for grooming, he was the 5th or 6th Westie f...

Yesterday I bought a bird.  We went to the Lansdowne Market.  Normally, the market ends in the fall but the Cattle Barn has been let to the local producers for a few Sundays.  The guidelines for the market are locally produced goods and food within a 100 mile radius - with the exception of fruit from Niagara.  It was a bit of a surprise to see how many crafters have rented booths.  It was the best of both worlds - shopping for food and for gifts.  There is one more Sunday (December 18th) left to go and get your baking, bread, meat, fall veggies and hand crafted goods.  I found a wonderful booth of wire-made ornaments, wall hangings and free standing birds.  I fell in love with a gorgeous little crow.  This is the photo of the little guy settling into the bookcase.  The artist, Denise A...

These lovely glass roses are individually made and adorn a very unusual feature of an atelier (workshop).  Can you guess where they are located? This is the inside of one of the glass workshops.  Doesn't look too bad but then, it is open to the public who visit Murano.  Okay, I just used that as filler so that you would have time to guess where the roses 'grow'.   Now, for the reveal........   Ta da....... If you have lots of lemons, make lemonade. If you have lots of glass, adorn a doorway for the whole world to enjoy your work!

When the market is really hot, you will want to have your house listed right away.  You want to be selling when the going is hot and Buyers are out there buying, buying buying.  Now, think twice.  Even if you have decided not to stage your home (and that may be a foolhardy decision), you will increase the value of the house by doing necessary repairs and cleaning.  It is spring so add some colour to the yard.  Buyers are picky and want to get value for their money.  When it comes to the market;  Some like it hot, some like it cold . Some like it on MLS, nine days old. Photo credit:  Oatmeal Porridge with Poached Quince - Richmond Hill Cafe and Larder

The next big question, after buying a home in an "Active Adult Community", is what type of golf cart will best suit your needs not to mention your budget.  Sure you think you can get away with renting one at the course but what about going to visit friends.  Add in about $10,000 for the cart new or look for ones on sale through ads in the community center or having that all important second vehicle while you winter away from the snow? Some of these beauties even have air conditioning.  I laugh but really, air conditioning!

You must remember this, a price is just a price, and a sign is just a sign.  The fundamental things apply.  As time goes by.  It may be the same old story but the wrong price means no glory.  A case of do or die.  The world will always welcome Buyers.   As time goes by.
