Over the holidays I was kept busy showing a few homes accross the city. I also came accross many Sellers who were present while selling their home in Orleans. If I can suggest one thing that will help expedite your sale... Don't interfere when your home is being shown! Let your Realtor do their job. Buying a home is an emotional experience and a big decision; when walking through their new potential home people like to "try on" a house to see if it's comfortable for them. This is very difficult to do if you, the Sellers, follow them around and point out every improvement you've made. I have also found that when a Buyer loves a home, they will sit down and see what it feels like to "live" there; they would not feel so at ease to sit if the current owners were home. Open Houseshosted during the week can be quite effective and bring interested parties to the house.  On occasion its good to mix it up and instead of having an Open House on a Saturday or a Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.  I have one on a Wednesday or Thursday.  Its the middle of the week, people are travelling from home, school, etc. and might just stop in and ..... Last year, I decided to host an Open House on a Thursday evening from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.  The property was located near a movie theatre - so I placed the Open House signs strategically and waited.  What a success - I received two offers and sold the property that night.  One offer came from a neighbor and the other from folks going to the movies and were interested in purchasing a home in the area.  Multiple Offers - YES! ...

Many people in the Ottawa & Orleans area are aware of Taffy Lane. This is the street where almost everyone puts up their Christmas lights and create a light show for people to drive by and admire. It's a magical time for many young kids and adults as well. I drove by the other evening and thought what a great way to share this with everyone out there. Some people can't make it out there so I recorded it on Video for you to see. I even saw Santa Clause out there one night. You must come drive by and see for yourself what it looks like.
