You want to own a condominium in Barrie—you’ve decided that much. But you’ve still have a lot of decisions and factors to consider before you’re done shopping. Handing your wish-list over to a Barrie Condo Realtor is the fastest way to get exactly what you’re looking for.   Your first, and maybe, biggest consideration is location. Locking down exactly where you want to be is a quick way to shortlist your options.  "Maybe you just like the look and feel of some neighborhoods," said Stephanie Adams of the Barrie Condo Team.  “Or maybe you want to be on, or close to, the waterfront. Or maybe you’re a commuter who needs to be close to Highway 400.  These are all big factors.”  Now let’s take a look at floor plans. Everyone has different architectural and functional needs, which is why most...

Various vantage points around Barrie and Kempenfelt Bay. Google maps took most of these images in the summer of 2008 in the midst of much Barrie roadwork building and parkland reconstruction. Hopefully they plan to keep these images updated every couple years. Use you mouse pointer to interact with the maps. City of Barrie Council Finally makes a decision! The eye sore at Mapleview and Highway 400, yes the one we all drive by on the way home or to the Muskokas, is finally one step closer to be being completed. Park Place engineering fees were dropped 500k to set the stage for development of the massive retail complex. Although it has seen many revisions, we should finally see a building going up by the spring of 2011. For more details....http://www.thebarrieexaminer.com/ArticleDisplay.aspx?e=2586245 For investors and home owners alike, it is another reason to move to Barrie Ontario. Our services and retail sector are gaining strength only adding to our solid return ( R.O.I.) on real estate investments locally.

A family on my street sold their home privately last month and followed up with an offer on a resale home in another area of town. Both transactions set to take place on the same day as is typical in this scenario. The husband, a nice enough guy, asked me to list their current home in March and at the last minute he decided to list privately and coincidentally at the very price I suggested their home should list at during my spring meeting with them. The husband approached me while I was washing the car on Sunday morning. He wanted my advice. His home had been sold and he had a closing date that was just a couple weeks away. The purchasers for his current home had just informed him that they would not be following through on their purchase and further to that, asked for their $2000...

In Barrie, Selling your home and moving into a new one can be stressful enough, let alone worrying about your current mortgage and whether you’re able to carry it over to your new home.  Mortgage porting enables you to move to another property without having to lose your existing interest rate, mortgage balance and term. And, better yet, the ability to port also saves you money by avoiding early mortgage discharge penalties.  “This is very important when you are considering downsizing and moving into a condominium in Barrie”, states Stephanie Adams, of the Barrie Condo Team. It’s important to note, however, that not all mortgages are portable. When it comes to fixed-rate mortgage products, you usually have a portability option. Lenders often use a “blended” system where your current mor...

People move about every five to seven years on average. A phenomena that is increasing and foreign to our parents generation but their day to sell and move will come as well. Here are the top reasons why people sell.: 1) Home is too small. First-time home buyers often outgrow their "starter" homes. Increased family size is the main reason home owners say they need a larger home. 2) Upgrade. The grass is greener on the other side. People often want what they don't have and long for a bigger, more expensive and grander, upscale home. It's the American way. 3) Fix purchase error. Owners might believe they made a mistake when purchasing their present home and want to rectify that mistake. Maybe they thought they could get by without a back yard but yearn to garden, or the dining room in th...

Typically, condo buyers in Barrie fall into one of two categories. There are comparison-shoppers, who want to see everything available and review every option. On the other hand there are also specific-shoppers, who are only interested in seeing exactly what they want. For Example, condos located on Barrie's waterfront.   Realtor.ca is an invaluable tool for both types of shoppers. Comparison-shoppers love using this web site to view dozens of listings and pictures offered in Realtor.ca, while specific-shoppers appreciate using specific search parameters to streamline their search for condos in Barrie.   You can start off with a general search such as “Barrie Condos,” or focus on more targeted keywords such as “Townhome” or “waterfront.” If you don’t like the map view, you can switch ...

Great expectations   A guide to buying your first home   BY DAWN KLINGENSMITH, CTW FEATURESAPRIL 28, 2010    If you do not own a home, you might as well buy one because you're already contributing to a mortgage -- your landlord's. That's one case for homeownership broker Carolyn Warren makes on her website, mortgage-helper.com. Although it's easy to understand the benefits of owning a home the buying process can be daunting. "I think everyone should have to take a little class so they know what they're getting themselves into," says mortgage banker Mary Ann McGarry, adding that such classes are widely available free through various organizations. Here, we offer a sort of study guide in homebuying, from setting a budget to signing on the dotted line. view rest of article by DAWN KLINGEN...

Nautica Condominiums, the “Jewel of the Waterfront” is nearing completion in June 2010. Final touches are being applied all around, and occupancy for the North Tower is scheduled for late May to early June. There are 4 units left to be sold by the developer in the north Nautica condo tower, where you may still have the ability to make choices for flooring, bathroom and kitchen amenities.
