There is an old saying in Cleveland: There are two seasons in Greater Cleveland: Winter and Road Construction!  Or... If you don't like the weather, just wait a few days, it'll change. I'm quite sure Cleveland doesn't have the monopoly on these two sayings, but my son's flag football team played last weekend in the snow (1st snowfall of the season) in the semi-finals and they won!  Today, they got to play in a college football stadium for the championship and while they lost, they all had a great time -- but it's best I don't bring up the game for a few days until he gets over the loss! :)       11/14/2010

I watched this funny, but tragically sad video on quizzing some young Americans about basic civics who either don't know: The name of the Vice President The name of the Speaker of the House The name of the Senate Majority Leader # of members in the House of Representatives # of members in the US Senate # of members on the US Supreme Court etc. I'm not saying this video is representative of young Americans, heck, it might apply to anyone over the age of 18, it does make me wonder how that civics class didn't sink in more. Some real estate agents say and do crazy things sometimes that leaves one scratching their head.  Here is what I ran across this week in my daily travels: I was browsing the MLS for luxury homes for sale for a potential buyer who may be relocating to the Greater Cleveland, Ohio and I noticed almost all the photos were sideways -- that's right baby...90 degree turned.  Even a novice computer user knows about that little icon called "ROTATE" but how most all of these photos ended up turned completely sideways is beyond me.  Perhaps this listing agent read Seth Godin's Purple Cow book and decided they wanted their photos to really stand out.  While it's bad for any priced home, this home was a very expensive home.  I always ask: Where in the world is the seller in all this mess? The pain endures...Cleveland Sports Fans Suffer Again...The pain never ends...Is there light at the end of the tunnel?  Cleveland Browns 14Kansas City Chiefs 16 My son and I went to our first Cleveland Browns game together.  I went to a game back in the mid 1990s in the old Cleveland Stadium, but this was our first game to see together in the new stadium, and quite a stadium it is.Parking a half-dozen blocks away, walking in huge crowds through downtown Cleveland...descending on the lake, seeing the Great Lakes Science Center and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame appear...Lake Erie in the background...impromptu bands and sax players playing for money, tons of tailgaters there since the early morning hours playing cornhole, drinking and grilling...the rush of excitement of the season's firs... 09/19/2010

Today is Day 2 of Women of Faith Over The Top Event in Cleveland, Ohio   One of the featured speakers today is Mary Beth and Steven Curtis Chapman. I have not personally heard them speak live, I understand it is very moving and an incredible story of forgiveness, healing and bonds of a close family.   Thank God, I have my three children near me and healthy, I can't begin to imagine the loss of a child!    Yesterday, someone spoke up who had lost her son and she just did not want to go on anymore. Of course we all prayed for her, I hope this story of strength and hope through grief will help all the mom's who may not want to go on anymore.   I pray for my friends and everyone who has lost a child.  May God Bless you and keep you in His loving arms. 09/18/2010
